The Third Pre-Animation of Foxlo’s transformation into a Giant Blueberry (Live Action with CGI) rendered with lighting and sound effects - It's here!!! 🫐🎬

Finally! The wait is over. After 2 months of development, we’ve finished the third Pre-Animation of our movie, 🥳 which turned out to be the most complex one so far (both in terms of animation and VFX work). We managed to integrate Foxlo’s real head onto her 3D body, while also giving her a soft, squishy effect as she inflates throughout the process. 💻✨

It was a huge challenge because we had to migrate all the assets from Blender to Maya. That’s right! This time we decided to render in Arnold and we believe the results are very close to what we were getting in Octane. Due to the complexity of this animation and the fact that development took place during the summer (vacation season alert ☀️🏖️), it took us a bit longer to finish, but the wait was worth it!

The sequence is looking incredible and with each step we’re getting a clearer vision of our movie. For those of you who’ve seen the storyboard, you already know what happens in this scene, but here’s a recap: Veroиa makes fun of Foxlo’s body, so Foxlo tries to push her belly in to avoid looking so bloated. But when she does, a huge amount of blueberry juice rushes into her butt, making it inflate (and we’ll see that in more detail in the next shot). 🍑💦

🛠️ On the technical side:

Animation was done in Blender, using rotoscoping from the live footage.
Softbody effects were created in Houdini.
Foxlo’s real head was composited onto her digital body in Nuke.
Lighting and rendering were handled in Maya using Arnold.

⚠️ Just a reminder: these are Pre-Animations, not the final result. Once these are completed, we’ll move on to updating the environment and character geometries to achieve a much more polished and realistic look. For now, these are mainly used to define the pacing and rhythm of the sequence. ⬇️Video Link⬇️
