We’re thrilled to share with you the initial phase of Rotoscoping that combines Live-Action with CGI, and the Playblast of the second Pre-Animated shot of Foxlo’s transformation into a giant blueberry! 🫐🎬 Yes, that’s right—we’ve officially started working on the next pre-animation for our film! 🎥 In this phase, we’ve fully adjusted the digital double of Foxlo to match her real-life performance. This will allow us to seamlessly align Foxlo’s real elements (like her head) with the digitally animated 3D body. The inflation Blendshapes (including those for her clothing) have also been enhanced, adding greater realism and fluidity to the animation movements.

This shot is inspired by the iconic moment from the 2005 film where Violet’s belly swells, 🤰🏼prompting her to nervously touch and drag her hand across her expanding stomach. Similarly, we’ve integrated the pre-animation into the 3D environment—the same setting as the previous shot: The Inventing Room. We’ve also added the camera with its dynamic zoom-out motion and positioned the materials along with three Lumpas who retreat anxiously as they watch Foxlo inflate. That's the point! 🔵

Next steps? We’ll render a low-quality pass to preview the environment and character materials. This ensures everything is perfectly aligned for the final render. 🔍 On the technical side: the animation was crafted in Blender, while Houdini was used for the softbody effects—our tried-and-true method. And now, a little surprise for next week! At the request of many fans, we’ll be featuring Foxlo in a slightly more "lightly dressed" look in the previous shot.
