Marcus/Iulius - Mermay 2021 (sfw)

A painter and a merman meet on the beach on an island in the Atlantic in the early 900's- late 800's. Curiosity draws them closer and keeps them in touch year after year.
Giulio (Iulius here) brings Marcus books and drawings, and in turn, Marcus lets Giulio paint him and tells him all about underwater life.
In winter, Marcus migrates to warmer seas and they meet again every spring, usually at sunset or at dawn. They have their own little secret hideouts where they can enjoy each other's company peacefully and later in life, when Giulio becomes a famous painter, he builds a house with an underground grotto connected to the sea for Marcus to come and go as he pleases.
