An Update Video (Early Access)

Hello everyone!

2022 was a very productive year for the channel. I made 2 videos per month for the entire year, I did livestreams, I tried new things, and the channel reached over 200k subscribers.

2022 was also a tough year for me. Because of a variety of commitments and obligations - both personal and legal - I was required to make "content" in ways I'd never done before. And this almost broke me.

Between YouTube stress, health issues, and moving (for the last time, hopefully), I was a wreck by Fall. I knew something needed to change.

So, in November, after pushing myself to put out two videos as early in the month as possible, I took a 4-week break.

During this break, I rested, recovered, and reflected on work, on what I wanted out of this channel, on what kind of creator (and person) I wanted to be.

This video covers what I learned during my break.

Long story short(ish): I am going to be focusing on quality over quantity next year. My major commitments from this year (the things that forced me to make videos at the unsustainable pace) will be done at the end of the year, so 2023 is going to be a year of bigger, better, but less frequent videos.

I'm also going to be focusing on being a person outside of The Internet in 2023. COVID precautions + the growth of the channel + the constant siren call of Twitter Discourse all came together to equal way too much focus on Internet stuff for me this year, and not enough focus on real life.

So, in 2023, my plan is to do more reading, more writing, more talking to & (virtually) hanging out with friends. I have non-video writing projects, podcasts, and personal goals that I'll be working on this coming year, and I couldn't be more excited.

Truly, while 2022 was a great learning experience, I am definitely ready to move on.

2022 was inarguably a great year for content

But 2023 is going to be a great year for videos (and, more importantly, for me.)

After I post my final (albeit silly) video of the year at the end of this month, I'll see you for my first real video in mid-January. But until then, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and warm holiday season full of all the things that bring you joy.

Much love,

Zoe 💜

It sucks that you had to go through everything you did. But I am happy that you've decided to apply those lessons towards maintaining your physical and mental health and to becoming an even better creator. I look forward to what you'll make in 2023 and beyond 💜
