Exclusive Video: The FINAL Table Video

Here we are, 20 videos later and the Shaker Table is done! This was a very educational project and it gave me a reminder of what it's like to build something in tiny little increments.
In this last part, we trim the top and get it fitted. There's still plenty to learn.
Because of the holiday, there will be no regular video this weekend, but we'll be back next week with the next exciting tool from Compass Rose! We'll see you then!

2024-12-02 20:03:44 +0000 UTCOn that little table, the top was just screwed to the uprights. No apron. So it had very little strength without bottom stretchers. This table has aprons and is light-duty so no need for more stretchers.

Getting into this hobby can be intimidating when all one sees is perfection. This has been a great series, and prompted me to make one for myself, although I added a drawer to mine. Hope you're having a great thanksgiving weekend with your loved ones.

2024-11-30 04:00:44 +0000 UTCUse both! I made this table myself, used ambrosia maple for the top, regular maple for the legs, and sapele for the aprons, the contrast looked great. I think Rex used maple and cherry in his original build.

I have a design question. I will be making this in the New Year (I have some Ambrosia Maple and some Cherry, not sure which I will use). When you built the smaller round table in the Spring, it had stretchers near the bottom. This one doesn't. Is there a reason for this?

2024-11-27 15:36:18 +0000 UTC8 or 9 months isn't bad...I started my first guitar build following luthier Chris Alvarado on his "3000 Year Old Guitar" project, and it took him 3 years to finish. I was in too deep to wait and had to blow past him; your table looks great and was WAY quicker!

2024-11-27 12:24:17 +0000 UTCHave a Happy Holiday Rex. Bloody hot here yesterday and today very high 30s Celsius nearly a 100 Fahrenheit. Electrical grid is struggling. Wife told me they had to close 2 operating theatres doing orthopaedic surgery today as air-conditioning wasn't working well and the cement they use was drying out too fast to use. Sucks because these operations are scheduled months in advance. Take care.
