Sudden Medical Drama (Don't Panic)
Added 2024-06-29 11:00:06 +0000 UTCFriends:
There has been a medical emergency in my extended family. My wife and daughter are just fine, but another family member has a newborn who just received an emergency liver transplant and experimental drugs to fight a life-threatening viral infection.
Things have been utterly crazy. I've been looking after another child (who has unrelated pneumonia), doing errands, helping family members make travel arrangements, and trying to do some amount of work. I've also been put in charge of communications and making announcements for the ongoing medical drama.
I regret to say that we did not finish this week's video. I know everyone understands, but I still wish it could have happened. This would have been our week "off" anyway, so this just puts us back on our regular schedule. We will have a video next week.
We are also continuing with the Patron Build-Along Series! Your next episode will be up on Wednesday and the next two episodes are being edited right now.
If you would like to catch up, the videos are right here:
Part 1: https://youtu.be/hilv-NCiT6I
Part 2: https://youtu.be/5TWDK0acOJw
There's also a great thread on the forum right here: https://forum.woodworkforhumans.com/t/patron-only-build-along-series/22472/1
Please consider doing this build along with us. The tools, wood, and skills are totally approachable and the end result will be attractive and useful. Everyone needs a table, right?
Take a moment and hug those closest to you. Life is more fragile than we realize.
Courage!

Totally agree. Something I've tried to get through to bosses in every field I've worked in. I'm a retired General Trained Nurse here in Sydney Australia. If you are sick stay home. Bring it to work and everyone gets sick.

2024-07-05 02:17:58 +0000 UTCTake care of family first, that's the most important thing in life. Hope things go OK. Liver transplant such a l9ng operation and takes its toll on the body and the family. I'm a retired General Trained Nurse. I worked a lot in operating theatres. Last Postition I had was working in a major hospital here in Sydney with 10 operating theatre. We did a lot of burns patients, transplants went to more updated hospitals on the area. Never had a chance to see one. I did look after the first man to have a kidney transplant during my training. Backbon the mid 70s, we transplant trained on the job like apprentices. Did 3 months studying for each year and 9 months in the wards working. It's a very rewarding job but also very draining at times as well. Nurses who get injuries aren't cared for very well by management, well thats what happened to me. Back in 2000 to 2005 when I had to retire on a Disability Pension. I've missed it every day since and I'm now 70. Take care mate. Worry about videos when life settles a bit more. Everyone will more than understand. There's plenty of videos to watch again. Chin up.

2024-06-29 12:17:28 +0000 UTCI'm so sorry, Rex. It's great that you're able to provide so much support for your family when they need it most. We'll stick with you no matter what, so take all the time you need for your family - and for yourself. Only do a little work if it's good for your mental health; if you run yourself ragged on our behalf, you gotta know that you're in for some serious scolding! Best wishes to you and your family and hopes for success.
