Table Build-Along, Part 2

Friends:

It's time to go over the tools we need for our simple Shaker table. The video covers everything, but here are some links to tools you might want. I used my affiliate account to make the links because affiliate links are nice and short.

Saws from my recent video:
Bad Axe No. 9: https://tinyurl.com/3hhd5rfv
Spear & Jackson Tenon Saw: https://amzn.to/3X4cr1V
(This saw needs to be tuned before you use it. Here's a complete guide to doing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBJ3Wm2DMA0&t=43s )
Crown Tenon Saw: https://amzn.to/3R4fHXb

Table Build-Along, Part 2

Comments

Nice overview on getting setup.

Bradley Barth

I noticed the hesitation and bashfulness around promoting your own product. Be proud, you earned it. It’s important for people to make and sell goods and services. Don’t be intimidated by the growing undercurrent of communists. These losers are unfortunately misguided, annoying and have the biggest mouths online. Thank you Rex.

I was in Springfield last week at two antique stores. Zero of any chisels and only a few woodworking tools at all. Part of the search is fun, but I've had minimum luck at them. I need to maybe plan a trip north to look at flea markets.

We did a whole blooper reel a few months ago! It was pretty funny.

My not an organized person by nature, but I keep my bench totally clean. If you get into the habit, it can stay clear. Take it from me; it's possible.

Rex Krueger

Yup, it's tennis elbow. It's basically resolved after much physical therapy. Now I just avoid the things that I know will be a problem and it doesn't bother me.

Rex Krueger

Yup. I've got a bunch. Having 2 in the shop is pretty sweet.

Rex Krueger

Firmer chisels are everywhere and they're cheap!

If you’re low on content ideas (doubtful) Do a video on outtakes. It’ll give Nate another chance to demonstrate his creativity with the big plus for you, you’ll get some off time.

Richard C von Brecht

Looking forward to this build series. For me the hardest part is going to be clearing my bench top. Thank you Rex for all that you do.

Matt Evans-Koch

Rex, you have mentioned that sore elbow a couple of times...sounds like it could be "tennis elbow", something that as an old carpenter and tennis player I have dealt with for decades. Most tennis supply shops sell "elbow bands", which slightly compress and support the lower arm just below the elbow. Their effect is nothing short of magical...I wear one always when hitting to prevent a flare up and often in the shop when sawing or doing other hand tool tasks that put stress on my elbow;)

John Griswold

We assume you have a bench... About 10 benches if I built along each one..

Wouter Engels

Liked the review, especially like the tip for the firmer chisel to be a poor man's mortise chisel. Not something I thought of, but will keep that in mind when tool hunting.
