Exclusive Video. WBS #007: Nancy Hiller

Friends:

Last night, we had the honor of hosting Nancy Hiller. Nancy gave a fascinating presentation on the design challenges of making custom furniture and kitchens in historic homes. She showed remarkable creativity, perseverance, and historical awareness.

I hope you enjoy the recording!

Thanks to my Leader and Partner Patrons whose support makes these sessions possible.

Comments

I was very excited to see Nancy Hiller and her wisdom. I was especially moved by her balance between client needs and her artistic representation of design. A wonderful offering. Thank you Nancy and Rex.

Ms Hiller - I, too want to thank you for sharing a part of your life with us, and a viewpoint that we most likely would never have seen if not for your generosity in sharing it. And Rex, you have thanked your supporters for helping to make it possible to present video content such as this, but as one of those, I see you as ranging far ahead of anything we could do on our own, or as a group. You are the one who takes our meager input to your support and magnifies it far beyond what we could do on our own, and the knowledge of craft and history is worth much, much more than our small contributions could ever provide. Thank you for doing these sessions! I'll be watching for reports on you, Ms Hiller, and I'll be looking forward to perhaps another session like this one in a couple of years. You have both been amazing! Thank you.

Thank you, Rex, for this interview with Nancy Hiller. I am heartened to hear her story and see her work. I've never known any women who have worked wood even for a pastime... but this interview with Ms Hiller amazes me. She is wonderful. I wonder how many other women are out there who have made woodworking their labor of love for a career... To Ms Hiller: My heart goes out to you with your health struggles. I do know how difficult this can be for you and your loved ones. I wish you the very best. You have made a difference in the world and it is felt. Thank you.

She really was a great guest.

Me too. I wish we could have met her under better circumstances.

Fantastic chat. Very enjoyable.

I have to admit that I didn't know who Nancy is. When she mentioned the IU School of Music, my ears perked up and I went to Google. It turns out we are neighbors (I live 30 miles from Bloomington). The talk was very interesting even though I am not focused on period authenticity. I wish Nancy well with her medical battles.

Thank you, both Nancy and Rex. The content was interesting, good, and well done. Getting any two seems rare. Getting all three in the same video is amazing.
