Early Access Video: The Quick-Stack Workbench

Friends:

It took us almost 5 months, but the Quick-Stack Workbench is finally ready!  You asked for a real, knock-down bench that was also beginner-friendly and affordable and we listened. We've created an approachable, inexpensive design that costs LESS than $300, including the vises and hardware.

This bench will handle any standard woodworking operation and it breaks down to 6 manageable pieces. The best part is that the bench can be broken down or assembled in minutes and the only tool you need is a mallet.

This is the biggest project we've ever done and we're so proud to bring it to you early. My whole team contributed to this project but I want to recognize Nate D, who built the bench and drew the plans and Nate H, who edited hours of footage to make this video and the course.

The course will be available for purchase next week and the plans will be FREE to Patrons. We'll have them up as soon as possible.

Thanks to all my Patrons for their support. Without you, none of these bigger projects would be possible.

Happy Saturday!

--Rex

PS: I am 42 years old today and I cannot believe it.

Comments

Rex - I am having trouble finding the Quick Work Bench 2 - hour course on rexkrueger.com. Is it still available somewhere?

Eric Huggins

I start building this today. After hours of research, skill building and then 3 hours at the big box going through 40 boards to find enough to do the full top I am ready. 😁

Scott Thomas

Yes indeed! These plans are soooome kinda birthday present! I feel like I'm at a Hobbit Birthday Party - they gave out presents instead of receiving them, you see, and this is a royal gift indeed! I'm already looking out of the corner of my eye at the Rex Kreuger English Joiner's Bench I recently built, to see how much is salvageable! By the way, I turned 80 just a month ago, and I feel like I've also turned a corner healthwise, and getting shed of the lingering results of the cancer that floored me for a while, so I've been spending much more time in my shop. Now - here's hoping that these horrendous prices will soon drop, and it won't cost me well over $100 just for the top!

Howard Tuckey

Happy Birthday! This looks great. I see some improvements to make to my knock down. Particularly the tail vise. Would you share the the sources for the vise hardware? Nice accomplishment. Congratulations to the entire team.

Brian Bell

👍

Greg Preston

Happy Belated Birthday Rex!

Ron

Looking forward to the plans - just in time for the upcoming vacation - should make a good post-Christmas project. As were some others, I was going to build the Paul Sellers bench, but this one looks to be a better first bench. Amazon delivered two Yost vices for the project today, so now all I need is the plans and material list!

Stephen Addison

Half way through my Moravian bench build, now this? Wish you post this stuff earlier, lol.

Luke Lyu

Happy B-Day! I am twice you age and have been looking for plans for a work bench made from commonly available and inexpensive materials and this looks like the one. Thanks.

Smitty

Thank you, very much.

Jennessa Lynam

Happy Birthday Rex! 42 was some time ago, but I remember it fondly, lol. I was just getting ready to build the english joiners bench but I'm going to wait for these plans and build this one. Thanks for putting it all together and I look forward to seeing Nate build it.

Mike

I am quite happy with my bench, (paul sellers plywood one) but it is a bit less mobile.... And it is two floors up.......

Wouter Engels

Oh, another Con: price. Lee Valley is offering an “Apartment Workbench” that is similar in dimensions to my Hobby bench for $845! I paid just under $400 for my not too many years back and that would be more than I’d pay today.

Robert Judy

Really looking forward to these plans. I just found a couple of small work benches in the garbage, but I would love to have one I can break down for storage. Happy birthday, Rex!

Alec

Color me envious...SYP is an awesome wood, and just like buying an exotic hardwood here in Utah. My only experience w it was a winter in Florida where, like Ohio you can just buy it in the big box store. Here it's all doug/hem fir and pieces that wide usually have heart check. BTW, Happy Birthday, it never seems like it when you're young but usually each decade is happier than the one before, enjoy!

John Griswold

I don't think the top would be an issue with a leg vise, given that the chop comes in parallel and exerts mostly if not entirely lateral force. I have one on my Moravian, since the top is 4 pieces of 4x6 it's the same thickness as the laminated 2x4 top in Rex's build and locks w just gravity to the legs on dry 3/4" dowels and holes, as does Rex's. It Doesn't budge under sawing, chopping...the lateral force against the 3 1/2" top pins the top even tighter to the dowels, I think it's worth a try;)

John Griswold

Rex, this reminded me of something I wanted to ask you. I thought of building the lightweight traveling bench to give my aging back a break from bending over my 34” tall Sjobergs bench. Would that really help my back, and why do you recommend a high bench eventually? Thanks.

Robert Judy

Rex, I have the Sjobergs Hobby version. It’s 19”W x 55”L with a tail vise and shoulder vise. I have to give it a mixed review, too. Pros: Adequate vises for my lifetime, though not quick release. Hardwood trestle and top. Aligned dog holes with good adjustable height dogs. Cons: thin 1-1/8” top that has just over a 0.006 cup along the center length and is too thin to really let holdfasts get a grip without reaming out the holes. Lightweight: to keep it from walking, I moved it against a wall and used 2x4s attached to the trestles to anchor it to the wall. Would I buy it again? Nope, I’d build your joiner’s bench.

Robert Judy

Of course!

Jeanine Hoffman

The retail price for the course will be $29.99 and I'm currently wrangling with the hosting platform for a Patron discount. We should have that ironed out in a few days.[

Rex Krueger

We worked and worked on that design! It took a great deal of thought.

Rex Krueger

Man, I hope not! But I'm sure 80 will be okay if I stay active.

Rex Krueger

It's totally my pleasure!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!!

Rex Krueger

Ahh the mortgage.....the boon and bane of all woodworkers.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!! The Nates really killed it on this one.

Rex Krueger

You're so welcome! Thanks for being here!

Rex Krueger

I hope I'm just like you in 30 years!

Rex Krueger

We designed this bench to be easier than the Moravian, which is a brilliant design, but not so approachable to the beginner.

Rex Krueger

Many people have said that recently....I may have to start believing them.

Rex Krueger

Yes, but what is the question?

Rex Krueger

Adding a leg vise is probably not a good idea since the top is not permanently attached to the undercarriage. You would be anchoring the bottom of the vise on the legs and then constantly levering against the top. Benches in the Euro style do not have leg vises in general. I think you might need to go with another vise. Sorry!

Rex Krueger

Luckily, my area was spared, but thanks for your kind wishes!

Rex Krueger

I kind of felt like many people needed something like this, so I did my best to fill the need.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!!

Rex Krueger

You know, talking a beginner through the build was illuminating for me. You really don't know what you know until you need to teach it.

Rex Krueger

The Low Roman is a great starter, but you really need a high bench eventually. If you need something that moves, this might be just the thing!

Rex Krueger

More time off!@

Rex Krueger

Well, your birthday is in 3 days! Happy early birthday!

Rex Krueger

Recently, several people have told me that I look young for my age. I don't see it when I look in the mirror, but I trust people. I will say that I recently quit drinking and I got serious about exercise when I turned 40. I work out 5 times a week and I think that's helping me slow the aging process a little.

Rex Krueger

This is great starter bench if you need to move it. If you just need a starter bench, may I respectfully suggest the English Joiner's Bench?

Rex Krueger

We felt that many beginner needed something a little easier than then Moravian. This bench is meant to fill that need.

Rex Krueger

You're far too kind!

Rex Krueger

I do a lot of research and read a lot of obscure books, which is the only reason I know ANYTHNG you don't. With that much experience, you should be teaching me!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!!

Rex Krueger

I have 2, which is exactly the correct number.

Rex Krueger

That is EXACTLY why I designed this bench; for people like you!

Rex Krueger

I wish you all the luck on this dream bench! I hope I get to see it!

Rex Krueger

Man, I got a late start, too! I was 30 when I started woodwork. You have time, even if you started later than me!

Rex Krueger

You can make it a more advanced design by just making traditional tusk tenons for the joints. That's the biggest place where we simplified it for the beginner.

Rex Krueger

I am still young, aren't I? I don't feel it.

Rex Krueger

I refuse to build anything on my birthday! I sat in a chair and read!

Rex Krueger

I'm delighted that you like it. The plans and the course will both be up by Wednesday or sooner.

Rex Krueger

This bench is 7ft long, FWIW. If you need a small bench that's still heavy, my English Joiner's Bench is made for that.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!!

Rex Krueger

I hear mixed reviews of those benches. Do you like yours?

Rex Krueger

He did a really good job and the course is pretty fun.

Rex Krueger

Happy Birthday! Aren't the 40s a treat?

Rex Krueger

A hardwood jaw would be a big upgrade, but we made this one out of Southern Yellow Pine, which is as hard as many hardwoods and very stiff. It's actually very unlikely to split. With literally ANY other softwood, I wouldn't make even a temporary vise jaw, but SYP is a different beast.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!! I'm really glad you like the look of the bench.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!! I'm glad you think so.

Rex Krueger

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7KOYndWhe4

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you! Nate really did a great job.

Rex Krueger

Thank you! I would only suggest building this bench if you need the portability feature. This one is optimized for portability and is a bit lighter than other designs that don't need to be moved. Just a thought.

Rex Krueger

Thank you for the wishes! As to the plans, may I kindly direct you to the text I wrote beneath the video?

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Wow, speechless! Thank you!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

You can really make the bench with any bolt-on vises. So whatever you can source locally should get the job done. We just picked whatever was cheap and got good Amazon reviews.

Rex Krueger

It was fun....and a ton of work.

Rex Krueger

Well said!

Rex Krueger

Oh, it's not wisdom. Just a lot of flim-flam and fast talking.

Rex Krueger

I'm really glad you like it! Good luck with your bench.

Rex Krueger

I've been kind of anti-tail-vise up until now, but it is very handy. I like it a lot.

Rex Krueger

I really think this bench is easier to build than the Moravian. I made it with the beginner in mind every step of the way.

Rex Krueger

You are EXACTLY the kind of person I designed this bench for.

Rex Krueger

I would say that people who don't need the knock-down feature probably shouldn't build this bench. It's optimized for portability. You can add a laminated top to the EJB without a lot of trouble. That bench will be heavier than this bench (which is kept lighter for moving). Just my 2 cents.

Rex Krueger

The fact that I'm truly young to many people is scary. I'm already older than I want to be.

Rex Krueger

This is a great design if you need portability. The bench is made to be moved. If you don't need to move it, then this might not be your bench. All designs involve compromise and a good knock-down design is a bit lighter than other benches and it's harder to build than a simple non-knock-down design. Food for thought.

Rex Krueger

Man, I really hope so, too. We put a LOT into this.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you for saying so! I really wrestled with finding a good knock-down joint and I experimented with several designs before I came up with this one. It's not unprecedented in bench history, but my design has some unique twists.

Rex Krueger

Yes, but I'm still working on the question.

Rex Krueger

To a certain extent, I designed this bench to be a more approachable Moravian. We really did base it on the European bench, but of course I was thinking about the most popular knock-down bench as we designed it. The straight legs and simple joints should be easier to build.

Rex Krueger

Thanks for the clarification on course. Hope you had a good time on your birthday!

Rob Lovett

So, this one is 7 feet long, but you could make it shorter be just making a shorter top. You'd need to move the face vice in-between the legs and maybe move the tail-vise as well. It's totally doable.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Man, don't I know it! I was only woodworking 2-3 years when my daughter was born. There was very little shop-time for a few years.

Rex Krueger

Yup, but the question eludes me.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

I'm really glad you think so!

Rex Krueger

That's wonderful!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thanks for saying so!

Rex Krueger

Thanks for saying so! We all appreciate that!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

I'm sure you built a good bench. This one is really best for people who need to move a lot. If that's not you, then this isn't your bench anyway.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

The plans will be free and only free to Patrons. Everyone who wants the course will need to purchase it, but I'm working with the course host on discount options.

Rex Krueger

If only I knew the question!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

I think that's a little much. I'm content to be Master of Earth. That's enough.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

The stretchers are wide b/c we need really wide shoulders to bear against the legs. In order to make it very easy to take apart, the top isn't mechanically attached to the under-structure. It fits into slots to keep it from moving and gravity holds it down. So the top doesn't really contribute to the stiffness of the bench and the undercarriage has to do the heavy lifting. So, wide aprons, which you also find on many European benches. As to the left-handed thing, Nate is left-handed! So, the bench is symmetrical. All you have to do is swap the vises and boom! Your bench is left-handed.

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Thank you!!

Rex Krueger

Anxiously awaiting the plans. This is just what I need.

Brad Sumner

Happy birthday- hope it was splinter-free 😉

Charles Deaton

Happy Birthday. Will have to build this one

R.E. Moore

Your a year late. I do not have a basement and the garage is for cars and I haven't remove the ramp for the elderly. I built a Moravian break down work bench that had all the problems of mortise and tenon cutting. The legs and stretcher were out of 2x4 so the gluing of two pieces together help. But had to cut the cross mortises in the legs. And I didn't plane the wood flat enough before gluing and didn't cut the tenon well so had to glue on strips. But I can say it is stiff when assembled. I am happy using it. Didn't get the angle correct on the tighten piece for the stretcher so had to change the angle with a chisel and make a new ~rectangular piece. Note the articles for building it was a good start. I will say that I learned and practices a lot building the bench so all my skills are much better now. I did publish in the group area pictures of the bench.

Thomas Sutrina

I have been watching your videos for a while and am I just starting with some woodworking from my grandfathers garage workshop. More towards the eletric side with a railsaw for now but I have really been needing a bench really bad since the floor is not flat enough and the clamping situation is almost non existant. This bench will make it possible to get to the next level and make some nice furniture.

Denis Merlevede

Happy Birthday. Keep up the good work! I think your videos compliment Paul Seller's videos. I started to build a workbench based of Paul Seller's 9 part series. Originally I planed to build the entire bench out of Yellow Pine but discovered, at least in New England, you can't purchase yellow pine that is not pressure treated. Ditto for Douglas Fir. If I make the table with soft maple working surface and kiln dried pine, the wood would cost me $750. I was able to obtain rough cut very wet hemlock for $120. Since the wood is very wet I will not be able to start my build for 4 to 6 months. It will be interesting to see how you built this bench vs how Paul built his.

Nicholas Loy

Happy birthday Rex, keep on bringing out the best videos around!

Antoine Veilhan

Happy birthday, Rex! That bench looks just like what my grandfather used in his workshop. Just what I was looking for. Awesome!

Peter Svedman

Happy Birthday Rex, I hope you had a good day. That's a brill looking bench, thank you for your efforts to simplify it all for us.

Jim

Happy Birthday Rex!! 🎂🎉 The bench looks fantastic!!!

Ryan Steele

Happy Birthday Rex! Excellent work on the video and congrats to Nate D, on the bench and plans. Question for you though, which bench would you prefer, this one or the joiners that you built and I'm assuming you are still using. Take away the aspect of having to travel/move the bench though.

Matt Cottrill

Happy Birthday! This looks like an exciting project, I like the simplicity of the design, and I think it is high time to graduate beyond my trusty Black and Decker Workmate :-)

Andy Philpotts

Happy Birthday! Excellent design. I have been looking for a good simple design. This looks like a cross between Paul Sellers bench design and a Roubo design, exactly what I was looking for. I may tweak the design a bit and make it a permanent design as I don't plan on moving it anywhere.

Jeff Griest

A really straight forward design. That mortise and tenon join redesign is terrific. That and the guides to hold the table top are the only dimensional sensitive components. You’ve reduced those to their most basic form. As far as birthdays go let me know if you found a good solution to keep those from occurring,

Richard C von Brecht

Well, now, this looks like something I will build in the next 6 months. Good timing.

John Laudun

Happy Birthday Rex!

Huet Landry

Happy Birthday, Rex! What’s the course price going to be? Also, do the draw pegs keep it from racking against planing force?

Robert Dennett

Happy Birthday! This is a great design. You definitely made it easy for beginners. The tapered pegs and the split dowel are a stroke of genius.

Michael Bennett

Happy Birthday Rex......Enjoy 42 while you can, 80 comes quickly! LOL

Jim Pochurek

Happy birthday! Thanks for all your work and sharing your talents with us!

Brian Barrows

Happy Birthday from Delaware Really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work!

Steve. Martin

Happy birthday! Wishing you many more happy years of working wood! Nate seems very insightful, regarding the single person-portable design requirement. I personally am still using a long and narrow Roubo-inspired bench that I built two moves ago that is held together with wedged half-dovetails. I, too, recognized back then that I might not have the skills to make a clean wedged tusk tenon. It may grow wider trestles and tool tray OR get transformed in to a dog and holdfast-festooned Low Roman Workbench now that I have a mortgage.

Alexander May

Happy Birthday young man, great looking bench. Congratulations to the Nates for their work.

Wayne

42?! You're young enough to be my youngest. Kids these days LOL. Wishing you many happy birthdays ahead Rex. You've given us the best presents of all. Thank you.

Matt Evans-Koch

42? Shucks, you are still a young un. Happy Birthday, may there by many more. I have over 30 years on you and still enjoy hand tool wood work.

Frank Agee

Happy Birthday

Nic Beurskens

Awesome suggestion for an upgrade down the road! I personally have an iron vise mounted to a separate work table that I keep cedar jaws in. The soft jaws allow me to grab ahold of strange shapes. My main bench has a hardwood leg vise. Best of both worlds!

Nic Beurskens

I'm sorry you had some difficulties. Plans have been released after the Early Access for a while. That gives time for all of our production needs. You can always email me with issues you run into on Patreon or the forum at nic@woodworkforhumans.com

Nic Beurskens

Happy birthday Rex, luck is defined as “when an opportunity meets preparation”. I am lucky as all heck. Change of circumstance means a need to have a portable workbench rather than the existing very difficult transport heavy duty bench. Considered the Moravian but so much work to productive again quickly. This Quick Stack Workbench is the perfect self-Xmas present 😀

Andrew Wyatt

Congratulations. You do not look your age.

James Farmer

I hear that "42" is the answer. Happy birthday.

Jeff Tinsley

Happy Birthday Rex. I turn 42 in April so feeling those years with you. A question I can guess you're going to get about this design is, Is there any way to add a leg vise to it. Wondering if you have any thoughts. Perhaps if the legs were thicker it'd be possible though that would make it a lot heavier to tear down and move for sure.

James Smith

Btw. Get used to the relentless March of time. Mage year I turned 42 was my best as an adult. Enjoy it. And many more. I just heard that the tornados are out. Keep your head down.

Col Rodrick

Well. Firstly happy birthday. And secondly thanks for making this bench design. You’ve got to know that I am one of those guys who need to make it!

Col Rodrick

Happy Birthday !

Peter Ferguson

That is a great bench, and your presentation idea is excellent as well! Having a novice build it is a reassurance to us oldsters even! If you can teach a newbie through the process of building that, it will jack your creds up unmistakably, not to mention leaving said newbie to be envied, and owning a bench that most, if not all, the experienced craftspeople would love to own themselves! And Happy Birthday, kiddo - you're just a couple of years over half what I hit on *my* last birthday! I think I remember 42 - Ahh yes! The answer to life, the universe and everything

Howard Tuckey

This looks like exactly what I need - I currently have a Low Roman in the Garage, but it's primarily being used by my Son to store bike stuff on and there's just not room to leave a permanent bench set up as well. With something like this I can leave it knocked down and set it up only when I need - even outside when I have good weather. I'll be looking at the plans with interest....

Rob Weir

What do you want for your birthday?

Brian Suker

Happy Birthday, Rex! I'm also a sagittarius. I'll be turning 39 on the 16th of this month. Love the workbench. That's exactly the kind of bench I've been wanting to build myself but wasn't sure how. Now thanks to you and Nate I can! Can't wait for the plans and video to be available. I'm super excited about doing this build!

Jennessa Lynam

DUDE! You're 1 year older than me?? Yikes. I need to get my life right.

e.d.

Super excited about this especially since I've been mulling over which bench I would like to start my woodworking pursuit with. Happy Birthday sir.

Terry Rice

Happy Birthday Rex and many more. I will download the plans as soon as they become available. Thanks for this. I have been waiting for something like this for some time. Aside from the Moravian bench there is not much in the way of knockdown plans anywhere.

Paul Boegel

A truly brilliant design. THANKS REX!!

Tim Clark

A very Happy Birthday, Rex!! You are amazing, and always inspire me. I learn something new from you on a regular basis. I have been a woodworker for for over 60 years, and am always happy to discover easier or better ways to do things. Keep up the fine work.

Robert Ryan

Happy birthday Rex

Daniel Doggett

Happy Birthday my friend. ... you sure have a lot of Nates! 😆

Greg Preston

Happy Birthday! Looking forward to the plans - I want to make this one, it would be great for my one-car garage "auxiliary workshop" (when the car isn't in it) since it can be broken down and stored along the sides. Most excellent :-)

John Hall

Happy Birthday! This looks very close to what I’ve been designing in my head the past few months. I’ve yet to develop “plan making/drawing” as a skill so I’m going to take a swing at adapting your plans to my dream bench. In a few months… need time to make room on the projects list for a new bench.

Jeanine Hoffman

Yes. Happy Birthday. I find that I am trying hard to catch up with your skills and knowledge even though I had a 2 decade headstart! Slow down so I can catch you! Now I have to build myself a “real” bench.

Michael Coolidge

Oh and the bench looks really awesome. I might not be a “true” beginner and have some ideas to make things more permanent but I will definitely buy the course and download the plans and see if I can make it “mine”. Thank you for all you do

Vasileios

Great bench, thanks for all you and your team do. Happy Birthday youngster.

Dale

Happiest of birthdays and many more returns! Build something fun today, and cherish on your creations so far; animated and not

Vasileios

Happy birthday, Rex. This bench is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’ll be getting the plans and video tutorial as soon as they’re available! Thanks for all you do to help us beginning woodworkers.

Randy McCauley

I've been looking forward to this the second you announced it! It finally looks like the perfect bench for my little workshop! Happy birthday man!

Ian Cragg

It's beautiful. I'm always impressed with your creativity and teaching ability. Many happy returns.

Dean Wight

happy birthday Rex.

stalions Stalions

Great bench. Gave me a couple ideas for improving my Sjobergs bench.

Robert Judy

Happy Birthday Rex! I really like the bench and the idea of Nate building in the video.

Clint

Happy Birthday, youngster!

Robert Judy

We share a birthday! Happy birthday, old man. I am a year younger than you.

Damian Acosta

Great looking build and bench! My only suggestion would to be to spend a little more on the vise jaws, particularly the face vise. The wide pine or doug/hem fir jaw with low attachments will want to split up the middle, easy to replace of course but a bummer if it happens during a project on a schedule. One piece of oak, hickory, or other tough hardwood will take many times the stress and impact, could be laminated out of 3/4" stock, even a fairly narrow board with the widths staggered;)

John Griswold

Happy Birthday young man! May you have many more. Selfish thought...So that we can have many more years of your expertise. That bench is amazing!!!! I look forward to building it some day.

John Hiemstra

HBD Rex! This is a really nice bench build!

Rane Olsen

Hi Rex again. Can you send us the link on how to use Patreon. I can't seem to find it

Paul Mouradian

Happy birthday!

Geoffrey Wilson

Happy Birthday Rex! Great video, and great work Nate.

Kevin S Thomas

Hey Rex, first of all Happy Birthday. I too am a December baby. I have already built the English Jointers bench. But I think I like this design better. It will probably be my next work bench. By the way. Keep up the good work and have yourself a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Zach Earley

happy birthday Rex, great job with this new workbench. outside of the course are the plans free for Patreon subscribers?

Paul Mouradian

Well Happy Birthday My friend. 🥳

Harold Stone, Jr.

Happy Birthday Rex!

Paul Ballmann

Damn Rex I´m speechless. Great work!

Nikoloz Petelava

Happiest of Birthdays Rex!

Jason Page

Congrats on you 42nd. And that bench look nice. I may just decide to build it in the (near, or not so near) future. I'll have to see about that... Depends a bit on the availability of the hardware here in The Netherlands...

Frans van Ballegooijen

Happy Bday! Looks like a fun build even though I don't need a break down bench.

Rick Prosser

Rex, was the video uploaded with this message? I have noticed that I wasn't able to watch the last vid or get the plan until the general release. I have been a $7 Patreon for some time.

Michael Gross

Happy spawningday

Trond Holstad

Happy birthday Rex! How did you pack so much wisdom and knowledge into so few years?

Michael Gross

happy Birthday young man!! Great Design, still working on completing my joiner's bench but this looks fabulous too!

Marc Barash

Halfway through this video I abandoned my *beloved* Rex Krueger Joiners Bench, and started thinking about building this new bench. This is a major upgrade, and looks terrific! I NEED that tail vise setup.

Paul Thoma

First of all happy birthday Rex! Hope that you’re able to take a breather and enjoy the day with your family. I love the bench, and there are, from the looks of it, so many ways that the craftsperson can change or modify parts of it along the way to suit their needs. I love it, I’ve been in a mental struggle of “English or Moravian? English or Moravian…?” I think this might be the one. Thank you!

Aaron Wasielewski

This is a great design for someone like me who is working in a shared space. I am a teacher and have all of my tools stored (and used) in a small workshop at my school. I don't have a good place to do my work and being able to set up and break down the bench will make it so much easier to move outside and put away when not in use. I am looking forward to your course. Thanks!

Eriq Powers

I just became a patron a short while ago because, well, I believe in your philosophy. People kept referring to the "upcoming" bench and I was anxiously awaiting it. You see, I was just about to build the English Joiners bench, but I want want want a laminated top, frankly, just for looks. It looks like this just might be the bench. I don't need knockdown, but, hey, why not? And happy birthday, I just celebrated mine a short time ago!

Paul Cezanne

Nice looking bench , might have to try that one. Oh HB you young Pup !

Herbalist Terry Coffee

First happy birthday Rex, can’t wait to watch the full build process, I have been waiting for a design I could tackle, I think this is it

samuel

Happy Birthday, Rex! And great bench! I hope this video will become a hit!

Helge

Happy Birthday! Awesome bench....I can't wait for the course and plans!

Kelly Moore

Happy Birthday, Rex!

James Tyler

The tapered dowels on the stretchers are ingenious.

Richard Young

Happy birthday! Now you are the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything.

Brian Taylor

Happy Birthday! I might convert my legs and scrap my strechers in my Moravian build for your setup since I have not completed my bench yet. Been using the bench top on some heavy duty sawhorses and F clamps.

Happy Birthday Kid, and a big THANK YOU for my next project. I've been looking to replace my Harbor Freight workbench with a better one but the same footprint for my small workspace.

Happy birthday Rex! This bench is awesome. I've been wanting to build one for a while now. But it's hard to find shop time with a toddler running around 😝

Happy Birthday 🎉 . So got a question. Why is the lower aprons/stretchers so wide? Could this design be modified so make a lower shelf or shelf w/ low profile drawers that can also be easily removed (in keeping with the knockdown theme)? Oh and any thoughts on a left-handed version of the plans? Guess I can build it to a mirror. :)
