Free Plans: The Mission Bench

Friends:

Here's the next in our series of new and improved plans. I'm still working closely with my new 3D modeler/designer to make these the clearest, most professional plans in the business. Some of you gave some good feedback on the last plans, so we've changed a few things for this set.

I'm really pleased and I hope you enjoy them.

In other news, I have a chest infection (which might be pneumonia; we'll know after the chest x-ray comes back), sooooooo probably no video this week. I do not feel great.

Stay safe!

Yup! 3/4.

Rex Krueger

The plans are very clear, but are missing a thickness dimension for the wood. Pretty sure it's either 3/4 or 1 inch, but could you confirm? Thanks.

Dean Wight

BTW - what is a good source for those "cut" nails? Or did I miss something ? Thanks

Howard Tuckey

Thanks for these! I've been under as well, jst out of hospital (again) Is the special on the new book still available to Patrons? I really don't remember if I ordered it or not - been confused a bit lately. But I do want to get out and get going in my shop with my great-grandsons and even my great granddaughters want in on the act! They all want to make something for their moms and dads for Christmas, and that bench I think will be perfect! Get well soon! Thanks!

Howard Tuckey

Feel better! That really sucks. I’d like to buy your book. How do I do that?

Gail Druley

Take care and get rest, I hope you feel better soon

John Blevins

That's great thank you Rex. Relax and take it easy, let your body rest too.

Richard Davies

You need to click "shrink to fit" or a similar option. We make them large-format for more detail when you zoom in. This is very necessary for viewing on devices, but you need to fiddle with the printer settings a bit. I test-print every set and I don't have any fancy software.

Rex Krueger

Prayers Rex!!! Be well!

Rustique Frank

Take care young man, also whenever I try to print one of your plans from a PDF file it will never print on the page. It is like the images are off center and only show half of the plan on the page to print.

Mike Swanner

take care of your health... that is most important

Chris J Bearden

Ah, the Most Elusive Patron appears! Thanks for your kind wishes.

Rex Krueger

Take care of yourself Rex, your health is more important than making videos.

LiraNuna

The plans look great. Looking forward to this build. Sorry to hear you are under the weather. Take care of yourself and get well soon.

Jeff Hill

LOL. It's the length you measure in from the top corner to get the angle you want.

Michael Bennett

*Googles "tangent length."

Rex Krueger

Yes, but don't screw the aprons on. That won't work....for very long.

Rex Krueger

Thanks for the plans Rex. And take care. I think we can survive without you for a couple of weeks. Your health is way more important. Specially in the current pandemic you should take extra special care when you have respiratory problems. Just make sure you get well before you take on any work again...

Frans van Ballegooijen

Great looking plans. Can I add another suggestion to improve your drawings? Along with the bevel angle, also add the tangent length (in this case 1-15/16" for the legs) to the drawing so those that aren't trig-savvy, or don't have a protractor can still layout the angle. Include in the directions something like. "Set your bevel gauge to this angle and lock it in. This angle will be used for all the other angles in this project." Get well soon, buddy.

Michael Bennett

And on the note of that chest infection. From personal experience take care of it man respiratory problems can be dangerous. Please take care of your self.

Aaron Sprague

I like this bench. If I make it, do you think pocket holes from the inside of the stretchers would work to attach the top?

Aaron Sprague

Take care of yourself my friend. Praying for a speedy recovery.

Harold Stone, Jr.

thanks for this Rex. best wishes to you and your health.

T. Flo

Whatever it happens to be, I hope it's easily treatable. Best wishes!

Bill Hedge

Echoing all positive vibes towards you, my friend - heal up and we'll see you when you're ready :-)

John Hall

Take some time to recover and get well. I'll be looking forward to new content, once you feel up to it.

Bastian Baumeister

I will be thinking positive things for you today. Love your stuff. Stay with us.

Larry W Thayer

Get well soon. Looking forward to this build.

Rob Lovett

Plans? We don'tneed no stinkin' plans. (I've already built one based on the early-release video. With apologies to fans of Treasure of the Sierra Madre.) I would suggest adding a note that all pieces should be final sanded before nailing. This is the voice of experience talking :-) Get well soon, Rex.

Brian Taylor

Hope you feel better soon Rex! Plans look great, easier to follow at a glance. Got my copy of your book from Amazon yesterday, after work I must have read 15-18 pages before I realized I should probably go to bed.

Solia

Yeah, feet up relax and take your time to recoup

Steve Popp

Oh my! Please rest and DO NOT worry about us. We'll all be here when you recover.

Jeff Stauffer

You do a lot of work and teaching for us. I am enjoying your new book in Kindle format. Rest, take your meds, we can hold the wood shop together while you get better. Thank you for helping me learn.

Paul Ladd

Follow the Dr's orders. Feel Better soon.

Rex Cowan

Get well soon, Rex!
