Free Plans: The Roubo Winding Sticks

Friends:

The plans are done and I'm delighted to post them for my Patrons. This is really a quick project. I had the benefit of having an original winding stick to start with, but these plans should give you everything you need to make your own.

As usual, these are also posted on the Discourse Plan Archive, along with all of my other plans. All free to Patrons. All ready to be downloaded right now.

Discourse is also THE place to discuss all things craft with your fellow Patrons. I find it a much easier interface than Patreon and I'm over there more often. If you haven't signed up yet, it only takes a minute.

Hope everyone has a GREAT Holiday. Cleveland is going to get like a foot of snow, so it'll be a white Christmas over here!

Free Plans: The Roubo Winding Sticks

Great video & plans. I'd been putting off making a dedicated set of winding sticks and this post inspired me. I had a piece of quarter sawn oak from an old piece of furniture that was perfect for most pieces (and is hopefully stable). A scrap of birds eye maple provided the contrasting top edge on one piece. I really like the way the end pieces of each stick elevate the stick off uneven pieces of wood. Thanks for the post!

All the best I made this for a neighbour who has had a bad year, today he found out his son will not be visiting we are in Wales and his son is in England, sad. This cheered him up. It is a tree but not made of wood https://www.google.com/shopping/product/8573144799882793073 BTW the 7 colour version does not need the Transistors or Capacitors, you can just use resistors R2,4,6 direct to the Transistor emitter which is the negative rail. Add R7 for the single led at the top Warning if you add the USB run it off a powerbank, since some cheep wall adaptors can have mains on them to the 5v output and the circuit is exposed and it may be dangerous. I just connect the AA battery pack and the switch (you need to put the black wire direct to the switch if you leave off the socket )
