SO MANY Free Plans

Friends:

The long story of the Joiner's Bench is finally at an end. I've had so much fun researching, designing, re-designing, building and testing this bench. I think it might be the biggest contribution I've ever made to the woodworking community.

To top it all off, my Patrons are getting every page of plans I've ever drawn for this bench. You already saw the free plans, but even those have been re-drawn from the ground up for this edition. I'm also including the vise-less options and the Big Leg Vise. All together, this is over 40 pages of plans.

I'm really delighted to give it to you, the people who made all this possible.

Warmest wishes!

SO MANY Free Plans

Comments

I purchased 4 - 16' 1.5"x9.5" oak boards a few years ago for $10 each. They were once part of a bridge but are solid with no rot and just a few imperfections. I thought about using them for a bench top on a Joiners Bench because I cant think of anything else to do with them. Thoughts?

Steven Sherrill

I'm going to do the build also but use as many hand tools as I can to build my skill with it. I know how to cut so I'll use my table saw and chop saw but all the leveling and mortising will be done with hand tools. 35 years as a general contractor speed made the money now it's time to relax and enjoy the smell of fresh cut wood.

Thomas Danaher

Nah! Build it however you want.

Rex Krueger

Am I a bad person? I'm going to build this bench, but plan on using power tools for a decent chunk of it. I really love using hand tools for so many tasks, BUT I do have a chop saw, table saw and a band saw.

Hey Mark! Welcome! You can send me a message or post a new topic over on the Discourse board. A lot of the members have built the bench. https://rexkrueger.discourse.group/

I’m new to the whole Patreon thing but took the $7 plunge to help support your channel. Particularly interested in the English Joiners bench but have a couple of questions about the plans? Is this the right place to ask?

mark thomas

Hey!!! That's great. Cheers from Ceveland!

Rex Krueger

All it took was one video and I knew I needed to do my first ever Patreon. Rex, I love your interest in history and bringing us things like the English Joiners Bench that so many of us find so useful, but may never have known about without you. I also already got a buddy hooked and we’ve committed to each build a bench with the accoutrements! Cheers from the Midwest!

Julian Sylvestro

I hope we get to see it!

Rex Krueger

You're very kind. (I can issue a refund if you like. Really).

Rex Krueger

I was so excited to see the full plans I ran over and bought them, then I realized I could have gotten them for free as a patreon. NO REGRETS! You are as entertaining as you are informative and I am happy to do a little to support you and your work.

I recently added on to our chicken coop and had to build 2 new doors. I build them out of 2/4's, one was a replacement for the front door that included a window so you can open it on hot days & the other is a gateway into the new area. I'm over 50 and after spending long hours on the floor I realized I need a bench. Researching introduced me to Rex's youtube video's. I'm not a fine wood worker so I love Rex's simplistic approach to problems and building items with little money. As soon as I complete the coverings for the 2 chicken-house windows (an Item on the Honey due list) my next project, wife permitting, is to build this bench. :)

Steven Sherrill

Thank you for being here to watch it. I'm blessed to have such great viewers.

Rex Krueger

It's completly my pleasure!

Rex Krueger

Staci, that is GREAT to hear. I love to work with my daughter and she gets a huge kick out of being in the shop. And you're right, Grant was taken from us too soon. I loved his videos, too. I hope you'll post about that tool chest on the Discourse page (https://rexkrueger.discourse.group/) And please post about those vintage machine tools, too. I'm more a hand-tool guy, but I LOVE vintage machinery.

Rex Krueger

THANK YOU! It really is amazing over there, and I apprecaite you spreading the word.

Rex Krueger

Hey fellow patrons. If you aren't over on the discourse forum yet, you should get over there! We have been having a ton of fun sharing our projects and talking about any number of woodworking topics there. This community is really active in sharing their triumphs and stumbles along the way as we have made different projects. Hope to see you over there!

I collect antique power tools. I restore them and was wanting to find a way to introduce my 10 year old son to wood working that would be both fun and educational. Just fearful because the tools I have in my shop don't come with the latest safety features lol. I had seen one of your videos awhile back but honestly in the world of youtube I got lost in the 1000s of other videos. When I stumbled back on your beginners series with the plane. I have watched almost all your vids with my son. An old plane we had rusting in the shop is now beautifully restored and sharpened. I have never become a patreon to any other person. And that's saying a lot because I loved King of Randoms Grant Thompson (rip). Rex, you are very well spoken and you make the videos both enjoyable and educational. I now have a safe way to intro my son into woodworking. We will be building our tool box together to put our newest old hand tools in. Thanks.

Thanks Rex, You have me hooked on woodworking, love your videos!

I really enjoyed the whole bench video series from the historical through the build. I think the investigation and history video was my favorite though.

Doug Hackett

I really dug this project from start to finish. It was really cool to see your initial post about the mysterious benches, and then take us on your journey. There are so many deep traditions in woodworking, yet it's an interdisciplinary craft. I love it. Thanks for busting out quality content like you do Rex.

Nic Beurskens

You're much too kind! Honestly, the math on Patreon works pretty well for me because of scale. The average contribution is about $3 and I have a very good number of Patrons. When you add it up, the monthly total really pays for all the stuff I do and then some. This business works because you guys make it work!

Rex Krueger

Rex - you do excellent work. I was feeling I wasn't supporting your efforts enough so I increased my level of patronage to reflect my guilt. Thank you for all your excellent work. Keep up the good content!!
