Illness, holidays, and the way forward.

On Wednesday, my kid got sick. Then I got sick. I started three separate videos on three different days, scaling back my ambitions with each new plan. I was down to a vlog by the end. Then my kid got sent home with a fever and I waved the white flag.
I cannot get a video done this week. But it's also Christmas, so I guess I can take a week off.
I'm still not feeling very well, but I'm healthy enough for CAD, so here's a sneak-peak at the bench I'm designing. This thing has been filling my thoughts for months and I'm finally getting a chance to get it down on...my computer.
These sketches are very bare, but you'll get the idea. Look up Charles Hayward's bench if you want more details on where I'm going. While you're at it, read his book _How to Make Woodwork Tools_. It's in the public domain and easy to find. It's an amazing book; like someone envisioned my YouTube channel, but better, decades before the Internet.
Will this bench be replacing my Low Roman bench? Heck no! I'll still be using that thing as a saw-bench, mortising stool, chopping stand, and maybe even a shave-horse. But I do want Woodwork for Humans to keep growing and changing and I want a stand-up bench. I'm just happier on my feet.
And you know that this bench will be cheap, approachable, effective, and the plans will be FREE for all of you. You won't see the actual bench for several weeks since I have a bunch of other stuff to knock out first, but this is a major part of my plan for the coming year. I've got BIG plans for this channel and YOU will hear about everything first.

I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have enough room in my shop to do anything else, after having built all these benches and tools! My latest feat was cross-cutting two full sheets of 1/2" plywood (on edge) with my el cheapo handsaw. Ended up a bit ragged, but not too bad for an old fart! Merry Christmas!
