Early Access Video: The $250 YouTube channel

Friends:

As I've slowly been upgrading my gear, I've realized that I built my YouTube channel on some EXTREMELY basic equipment. I cannot believe I go so far with so little. So I decided to share everything I've learned about getting a channel going and keeping it running for essentially no money.

I admit that I'm kind of surprised at just how ghetto things have been behind the scenes at my channel. Aside from the camera, most of the rest of my gear literally came out of the trash or was found at a yard-sale.

I know I say this a lot, but my recent acquisition of a better camera and better lights is totally due to my outstanding Patrons. You all have not only given financial support, you also gave feedback and advice that actually helped. Everyone on the Internet has an opinion, but you all have GOOD opinions.

So, enjoy this little peak behind the scenes.

Happy Saturday!

My pleasure on all accounts. Where are you? You do metal detecting? I see you on IG, but I don't remember.

I really want to do more smithing videos, but they don't get a lot of views. I need an angle. I have an idea for a super-cheap smithing setup. Everything, including forge and anvil for around $200. That might be a good one.

I went back and watched your first video again. It wasn't that bad. I mean it didn't make we wanna hurl or anything. :) You just keep up the great work you do and I'll keep supporting you and throwing sarcasm at you. :0 Really do love your work. When are we gonna see some blacksmithing? Make some nails.

Just wanted to say from one NE Ohioan to another, I'm really enjoying your content! You do a good job of making woodworking approachable for the hobbyist or weekend warrior, like myself. And also, huge props for plugging Free and Open Source Software. Thanks for the content, I can't wait to see what the future holds!

Eldon

That's a fascinating idea! Let me think about that.

Well, the small bench is fun, but not necessary. The bench is the big thing. The tote is a great project, but you can use a plastic tool box from the big-box store for now. Give yourself a break. Focus on the stuff you will actually use. And if you get a channel up, I'll be the first sub. Promise.

Another great video. What I like best is that it gives me time to catch up on the Woodworking for humans projects. I have to make the small bench, finish the legs on the work bench build the the tote. I can’t keep up. I also need to get my YouTube channel going. Thanks.

Great video, now could you do one on coming up with a topic? 😂

See, you really do learn something new every day!

I should look into linux. I know it's an OS, but I know essentially nothing about it.

Rex Krueger

excellent tips, i'm on linux/foss (except games), 3 years now and i regret nothing.

"Goes up and down" ... is called tilt.

Brandon's podcast is great. I've found a couple of makers I likely wouldn't have run across if it weren't for the M(B) Show. Glad he had you on!
