Tool tote plans are FREE for Patrons.

Friends:

I'm delighted to send out the plans for my recent One Board Tool tote video. These are free for Patrons.

I intend to do more plans in the future and many of them will be free to my supporters. Maybe they'll all be free. We'll just have to see what happens.

These are my first plans, so I'm always happy for feedback.

Thanks a lot!

I'm sure he'll love it!

I just rough cut my lumber. Going to rewatch the video and build up the courage to take the next step. If it turns out well it's going to be a gift for my father in-law who recently helped me install a new floor.

I should have added that; you're totally right.

Metric is the least I can do.

That's a good point. I honestly just grabbed a pot lid and used that, but I'll try to be clearer in the future.

These are all welcome notes, especially for a professional. This is my first set of plans and I'm happy for feedback. Let me know how I do on the next ones!

Thanks Rex, I'm going to try making this in the next week or two, I'll let you know if I find any issues with building from the plans. One thing that might be nice is a cut list or diagram of how you cut the 1x12 so that it would help reduce waste. I know most people would probably make this out of pine, so cost isn't a huge concern, but it would be nice if someone were to make it out of oak or something a bit more expensive. One nit-picky thing (I do drafting for a living so this is just a pet-peeve of mine) on the ends you have the 9in dimension over the textured wood CAD, which makes it harder to read. I'd usually try to avoid putting any dimensions on the part itself, but again just a minor thing. A few of the dimensions are a bit pixelated too, but all are readable.

Thanks. Looks good. Like @Kostas I like the fact that you added metric sizes. Lots of plans from the US don't include them (as far as I know). I found one thing that might be a bit tricky for some. The radius of 24" (61cm) on the sideboard. I think it would be better to use the dept of the cutout and freehand the circular shape (or use a template to keep them the same on both sides).

Frans van Ballegooijen

Thank you rex, it's nice to have inch and cm together. It's a nice starting project too.

Kostas Karanatsis

That's a great point. I'll try to get that in there!

Thanks Rex. Looks good but for one detail. In the video you make the point about three feet for stability. On the plan, the end with the single foot is visible on the cutaway view but the end details show two feet, saying "make 2". So someone trying to make the tote from the plan without having watched the video might get a little confused. A text note something like "Make two feet on one end but just one on the other (as seen on the cutaway view); this enhances stability when the tote is placed on an uneven surface."
