Handplane Restoration Handout
Added 2018-12-04 11:49:51 +0000 UTCFriends:
Last week, I had the privilege of hosting two fine fellows in my shop for a private class in hand plane restoration. We took a vintage Stanley and a vintage Record and took them from flea market find to working tool. It was a lot of fun.

In preparation for this class, I wrote up a detailed handout on how to look for, evaluate, and restore vintage planes. I thought some of you might like to have it for your own tool-hunting adventures. I've attached it below as a .docx file (because Word is being a pain and won't save it as a .pdf).
Hope you find it useful!

Whew. Philosophy PhD. That's a tough one. I wish her the best. And that tote template is the one I use. It's VERY good.

My next woodworking project is to make a new handle for my stanley because the original plastic one broke. i downloaded the template here: http://www.leevalley.com/us/html/16j4010l.pdf

2018-12-05 07:59:15 +0000 UTCHi Rex, tanks for the handout. just install Libreoffice. It can open your docx file and save it as pdf. Otherwise all people on mobile devices cant view it without jumping through burning hoops and installing 3.party apps. Libre Office (the stable 5.xx version not the 6.xx "beta") is production ready. My wife writes her 300+ page phd-thesis with it.
