Exclusive Video: Ask Me Anything #1

Friends:

I've had a little illness in my house this week and I haven't been able to get a video out. But my Patrons should always get something good, so I've done the first in a series (hopefully) of AMA videos. I just tackled a few questions here, so if I didn't get to yours, that will happen.

These videos are time-consuming to make, so if you like it, please let me know. I need people to actually watch and enjoy these if I'm going to keep making them.

Happy December!

Welcome to the channel! Glad you liked the video!

Rex Krueger

New patron here, I definitely enjoyed it!

Tim Hatch

Thanks Rex!

John Meeker

Keep up the great work!

Jim Williams

Thank you for answering my silly question! :) I half expected you to ignore it. The other half of me expected you to say that you use a spokeshave. :)

Jim Williams

I really liked it! I think it's definitely worth doing more if you get enough good questions

Matthew Leigh

Well, I'd be destroying it for sure.

Rex Krueger

Yes, I'd definitely be interested in that. I plan to buy another plane anyway so if I totally destroy this one following your video, that's okay.

Steve Crane

Steve: I've been thinking about getting one of these planes and fixing it's terrible adjuster by converting the plane to hammer-adjust. Does that interest you?

Rex Krueger

Nice questions. Here's one I have. I only own one bench plane; a cheap unbranded one my father originally bought back in the 1970s. It has a different adjustment system like this Stanley 12-404 has. https://goo.gl/uTJwDe I have a great deal of trouble adjusting it; not so much for depth but for side-to-side blade angle. This makes it difficult to plane a board edge square and difficult to plane a board face without leaving grooves. While there are many videos on adjusting and tuning planes, I haven't found one on this type of adjuster. Any chance you could talk about this?
