Jack Plane Patron Giveaway!

Friends:

I'm giving away the jack plane I reviewed and prepared in one of my recent videos. I know a lot of my Patrons are just getting started in woodworking and need good tools. Even if you have some tools, using this Hong Kong style plane can be a real eye-opener.

Either way, the details are in the brief video above.

I hope this is just the start of me thanking my patrons in more tangible ways.

Happy Hump Day!

Jack Plane Patron Giveaway!

Comments

cool.

Alex Larson

And a happy Rosh Hashana to you, too!

Rex Krueger

Yeah, I've got the old meat-hooks myself. It's Stanley style planes for me all day long.

Rex Krueger

truth be told, i do have my eye on another Bailey jack plane that i can get at a good price. I already have one that i inherited, and my craftsman that i recently bought is really really good. The other just has "Made in USA" on it and is in rough shape, but will make a fun restoration project and scrub plane. I don't know how much longer i can restrain myself. So yes, i still want another one. I think more than anything, i'm a big guy with meathook hands, and the plane looked not very fun to use whereas i love using my metal jack planes. I have a vintage 4" jointer, but the hand planes are great for getting that final tight fit when jointing a table top before glue up.

James Kison

This is great! so nice of you to give that plane away after all the work you've put into it :) keep my name in the hat, please :) :) and happy Rosh Hashana everyone! (that's the Jewish new years holiday)

Hey! You're an audio engineer! I would have loved to have known you when I was playing actively in bands in my 20s. I do think that desk looks great. Nice sketchup as well.

Rex Krueger

Also I forgot to specify it is a 1930's French one car garage... so it's probably even smaller for both those reasons (I stopped trying to get my car in there after I scratched it a bunch of times :/ )

Benoit Holliger

I get by, it's way better than my New York appartment where I made my audio desk (<a href="http://www.benoitholliger.com/)" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.benoitholliger.com/)</a>

Benoit Holliger

I would be proud indeed! You know how much of my stuff looked like junk when I got it (some of it STILL looks like junk). I got my start in a 1 car garage. You can do a LOT of work in that space, but low ceilings are a drag.

Rex Krueger

Man, having a lot of planes has never kept me from wanting another one. You're generous to take yourself out of the contest.

Rex Krueger

Well, if you ever do, make sure to contact me ! I live near Paris at the moment. You can use my humble one car garage with 2m high sealing "shop". I think you'de be proud to see that most of my tools are other people's junk. :)

Benoit Holliger

Yup, we can work something out, no problem. You live in France? I've never been, but I'd love to.

Rex Krueger

Great! I can't wait to see if I win! I'm overseas (France) but I go back and forth a lot (my wife is from the US) so we'll work something out (my confidence in winning will guide your hand!)

Benoit Holliger

This is awesome and generous of you! but i have 3 vintage Jackplanes, 2 that i'm quite happy with, so please take me out of this drawing so it can go to someone who will use it. I know, i know, statistically it's unlikely i would win, but i'm just following directions here ;p

James Kison

No, I'll keep you in the drawing. No worries.

Rex Krueger

Great idea! Uh....should I delete this comment if I want my name in the hat?
