Anybody want a fancy guitar?

Friends:

I had a blast making the guitar in my last video and the response (both here and on YouTube is encouraging. I might want to do more of this content.

I'm thinking about all the cheap guitar kits that are out there right now. Many of them are high-quality and offer good options for customizing. Making one of these instruments from a woodworker's perspective would make a great video. I'd love to buy one and build it for myself, but alas, I don't have the money.

But maybe you do.

Maybe one of my Patrons would like a new guitar and wants to pay for it.

Here's how it would work: You pick a style of guitar you want and we find a kit you like. You buy the kit and have it shipped to me. You pay for any upgrades you want in pickups or hardware. I'll build and finish it and I'll pay for all the supplies (sandpaper, glue, finish, etc). You pay to have the finished guitar shipped to you.

I do the work for free and make a video on the whole thing.

The only catch is that I want to make a guitar that one cannot just buy for super-cheap. So, I don't really want to make a Stratocaster or Telecaster. These models have become so inexpensive that building one hardly makes sense. So, let's do something special: maybe a jazz-box or a semi-hollow. Perhaps a big Gretsch or another rockabilly guitar. Maybe you want a crazy heavy-metal guitar. It's not my thing, but I can build it.

So if this appeals to anyone, the kits are all around $200, and you might want to factor in another $100 for shipping and incidental expenses. And of course, you get a shout-out in the video and a fancy guitar.

If anyone's interested, just send me a message.

Happy Monday!

Yeah, I really like Alex's idea, but I don't know if I'm brave enough to just open this up to YouTube. Who knows what I might have to deal with. My Patrons I kind of know and trust, so I'll keep it open to them for now. But I am leaning toward opening it up.

If you don't get an bites Youtube might be the way to go. But if you'd rather keep it to patrons only I'd be willing to pitch in for crowdfunding. I don't play or want a guitar, but it could make for an interesting couple of videos.

That's a good question! Let's see what other people think?

Rex, This is a great idea and something I haven't seen on a YouTube channel before. I think you should create a short video offering and explaining this deal and post it to your channel so all of your YouTube subs can see it. You'll be more likely to get a bite than if you keep it to just your patrons. I'd love to hear what you and your other patrons think. Should you keep this offer to patrons only, or open it up to all of your subscribers on YouTube?

Well that's an idea! Let's see what happens.

If you have no takers, I'd be happy to kick in for a crowdfunding.
