Process Notes: Shattered Plywood River Bowl

I'm just about to dash off to an install, but first, I wanted to share the progress shots of my river bowl. I finished the turning and the sanding yesterday and today, I painted on two thick coats of West System clear epoxy.

This plywood is SO porous and the alternating long and short grain make it even harder than usual to get a good surface. The epoxy coating will fill and stiffen the fibers of the ply and get it ready for final sanding and finishing. I plan on wet-sanding down to something very fine, like 2000 grit and the maybe applying a poly finish. I'm honestly not sure what to do, if anything. I want that blue epoxy clear as glass when I'm done.

More updates as they become available. Hope everyone is having a great week!

I think so, and then Maguire's Ultimate Car Polish. Then finish with wax? We'll have to see how it goes.
