Early Access Video: Are older Stanley planes really better:

One week early for patrons only: my comparison of two vintage Stanley planes. One is from 1890 and one is from 1950. The older one is considered superior and is more collectible, but does that make any sense? It turns out that the newer plane is actually a lot more precise and functional and it's much cheaper.

Thanks for the great information. I never really understood collectible anything. I do highly respect well engineered made with quality parts. From this video it seems as though the sweet spot for me to be looking for Stanley planes is around 1950.

oSo I went ahead and bought this really nice Stanley 220 for four bucks, and it really does work on end grain!

These are the same as the Pinie I reveiwed a few months ago. Infinity just slaps their name on them and jacks up the price. I don't love them, which is too bad since I love wooden planes.

Rex, have you seen the Infinity Wood Planes? https://www.infinitytools.com/hand-tools/hand-planes/bench-planes I wonder if these are any good< they are cheap enough.

Jason, it means so much to me that you want to support what I do. As one of my first patrons, you have a lot of input on what I do with this channel. Tell me what you want to see and tell your friends that they might enjoy my videos. We're in this together now!

Very informative! Thanks for the shoutout. You are the first person I’ve ever supported on patreon and I did because you are a small channel that I really enjoy. I have wry few handtools, but need to pick up more since space is a premium in my two car garage that actually holds two cars. I also did it because you personally ask me to do it. It was the prompt I needed to get me to sign up. Keep up the great work!
