I think later in the novel Tang San intends to put the trial aside until things are stable, but that part early it was at least out of place.

2022-05-09 21:39:25 +0000 UTCYes, Soul Land is back on track now. It deviated from the novel a bit but I think the change actually patched up the inconsistencies and incoherence in the plot lines. One of the best changes was to have TS join the fight and his concern for his Shrek siblings fighting without him. At the same time, Mubai also appeared assertive and thoughtful when he proposed that TS should put his SeaGod test his priority. It highlights both TS and Mubai's selflessness and the care they have for each other. In the novel, TS was completely out of character when he ignored the brewing war and insisted to resurrect XW above all. That’s still understandable considering his love for her but his argument at that time was that he only wanted to live together with her, away from any war or conflict. He also completely forgot about the promises he gave his dad and his Tang Sect. But thankfully, this ridiculous plot hole is gone and is replaced by a much more logical and reasonable behaviour from him. Kudos to the production team for not only giving us brilliant animation but also a solid and compelling story without compromising on character development.
