SPOILERS! If you haven’t read Chapter 6 yet, you should do so before reading further.
Diane DeSantis has discovered that the life of an NPC tavern wench in Fantasie Unchained! is no bed of roses! Diane is now free of the vampire’s mind control, relatively speaking. He placed a compulsion on her to tell no one about him, but at least her body is back under her own control. Unfortunately, the vampire has taken a fancy to her roommate, Lyvette! Though Diane has actually known Lyvette for only a few hours – since waking up in the game that very morning, in fact – she does feel a moral obligation to help the poor girl escape the vampire’s clutches.
Yet the vampire has already demonstrated an uncanny ability to dominate Diane with his mind control powers; if she were to confront him directly, odds are good that she would end up simply sharing Lyvette’s fate. As you might have gathered from the vampire’s reaction to Diane’s warning about the adventurers on the main floor, he plans to do something about the trio once he has settled on the best approach for dealing with them. Diane might be able to use this impending confrontation to her advantage. On the other hand, she and Lyvette could get caught in the crossfire.
