Sometimes ideas don't work out

So I'll be honest, the comic pages ended up being far less popular than I expected. Which is a bit of a bummer, but that's fine. It's just what happens sometimes when you try new things. I still think the fantasy theme and worldbuilding is a good idea, just that 3D comics isn't the most appealing way to present it.

I was planning on doing an audio version of the first comic page. When I tried to make it as a video with the still panels and audio, it just really didn't look great and didn't meet my quality standards visually. Moral of the story is, sometimes shit doesn't work out and you fail. But that's ok because that's what being an artist is all about. It's how you learn and improve.

Anyway I paid for voice acting and I don't want it to go to total waste so you can have a listen if you wanna. Maybe I'll revisit Thiccromancer in future and do it as a proper animation if there's enough interest.

Sounds good. At least you tried! That’s what matters instead of being hesitant, thank you and I know you’ll do fine making your kind of content!

I didn't post this to be down on myself, rather the opposite. I posted this because I think it's a helpful message to other creatives that no matter how experienced you are, sometimes the stuff you make doesn't work out how you hoped. It's important to be able to self critque in a healthy way. I don't get emotional or upset about failure because I know it's part of the creative process and the road of improvement. I think that's something not everyone realises, especially less experienced artists who see mistakes as a personal flaw when it really isn't. I've been making mistakes in art for over a decade and I don't plan on ever stopping lmao

We're all here to support your creativity, experiment as much as you want. Don't get caught up with social media likes and stuff, you're a fantastic artist and trying new things is a core part of your process.

I think its cuz your animations are just so good! I wont lie that i liked the idea of a comic! It seemed quicker and easier. But your animations are just so extraordinary! Maybe there's a way to combine comics with animations. Like let comics be the setup for the lewd situation to come. Cuz i wouldnt mind reading those

Twitter likes is my main source for judging if something is popular. The comic pages have had significantly less likes compared to my other stuff, which tells me the comic format just doesn't catch the eye and people end up scrolling past them. On the Patreon side of things the ratio of people in vs people out has been unusually bad this month, which tells me I haven't been posting frequently enough, which makes sense since the comic pages take more time than standalone images and if they don't perform well enough that means I make less money. And a lot more Kaira stuff is planned so don't worry about that

I'm a big fan of cow girls so look forward to seeing more of that character. How do you measure popularity so I can know in the future where to show support for projects?

It's okay man! Sometimes we have things not go according to plan. But just know that we do appreciate your hard work and awesome perspectives! Don't worry, try a different direction or thing and just keep at it.

Yeah sure, I'd like to see more examples of how other people do things

I am following some creators who only do 3d comics and stuff... (one of them goes the other way right now and is starting to try things with animation...) They insert text with either text boxes or speech bubbles (similar to traditional comics). I can DM you some names and/or Screenshots if you want to look at how they do things 😉

I think the big problem is that 3D comics just arn't eye catching. Doesn't work as well as when it's done in 2D. Also there's the issue that 2D text over the top of 3D is really hard to make look good and I think it gives it more of a "cheap" feel. I'm still gonna be doing more with that world, just in the way of pics and animations. I've got a bunch of ideas for characters and creature enchounters.

Your positive attitude is really lovely to see! I think artists sometimes have to balance what they want to create versus what people want to see, and I appreciate that only animations is not super exciting, and they're far more time consuming than other stuff. I for one would love to see you trying more formats and styles :)

that really is a bummer... (i really liked how things were going so far...) But just as a little thought: Most people like reading multiple pages at once to get the story going in their minds... Maybe there just didn't happen enough yet? Maybe do a vote to see how many people were really interested in it and how many simply waited for some more pages.... (that would give more insight to what is really going on)
