2022-04-03 18:06:03 +0000 UTCI liked the theatrical and really liked the Dir. Cut, but really disliked the Special Edition. At the time, Spielberg told the studio that he needed 6 more months to finish the movie but was told that it had to come out Christmas 77. They finally came to an agreement but with the Studio condition that a certain scene be added for the reissue in 78. To this day, Spielberg regrets adding this scene and removed it in the 1998 Dir. Cut. In broad strokes, the Dir. Cut. combines the best parts of both the Theatrical and Special Edition.
