Spell: Floating Magi
Added 2022-08-01 15:36:58 +0000 UTC
This spell is intended to give a spellcaster that "I'm so magical I can simply float around" vibe.
I was originally going to go with a version of floating disc that the caster could sit on and control, but then thought of Essek from Critical Role and figured I could make a spell that would let a PC caster pull off the same motion. During the writing, Zenyatta from Overwatch came to mind as well. I decided that a very limited form of a fly speed mixed with the limits of floating disc would work nicely as a 1st-level spell.
Have fun being floaty.
Update 2022-08-05:
- Changed range to Self (5 feet) to limit how far away designated anchor creature can be.
- Specified you can stop and restart flying (to climb up a cliff, for instance), just like having a normal flying speed.
- Reworded so that it is your are moved along when the anchor creature does, rather than being pulled. Limited now to your walking speed (your anchor could leave you behind if they go too fast).
- Added GM note to define "the ground" to handle players that would otherwise try to abuse the lack of a D&D definition for "the ground".
