Spell: Diamondshard Arrow (a Jewel-ly creation)
Added 2022-07-19 18:29:31 +0000 UTCTransform an arrowhead (or the head of a crossbow bolt) into explosive diamond to can inflict more damage on your target.
Might be a good spell for rangers, or for wizards that use pointy ammunition or are buddies with someone that does. Feel free to ask your DM if you can have this spell.
Written for day 19 of Jewel-ly, an entire month of daily jewel/gem-related homebrew creations.
Updated 2022-07-19: Altered spell after feedback to remove single-target damage and turn it into an area spell only.

2022-07-20 14:32:49 +0000 UTCThanks for the comment. I've now updated it to remove the single-target portion of the damage that it had, though if hit by the arrow a target creature does auto-fail the Dex save.

2022-07-20 03:12:30 +0000 UTCI really like the imagery and thematics of this spell, but I think it's currently overpowered. It's doing better damage than Guiding Bolt or Chromatic Orb when you include the weapon damage. It also completely outclasses Ice Knife, which has a similar niche. Maybe the explosion damage could be 2d6 for both instances, while maintaining that it can target objects like it does currently. I think that'd bring it in line while keeping it unique.
