Build 7's out... now what?
Added 2025-05-24 02:39:21 +0000 UTCHey, Chordies :3. It's Bowser.
Build 7 just publicly launched and I'm taking a well deserved break this weekend and party it up for my birthday (I'm turning 30, pray for my knees π). I want to discuss some progress updates before I get started frantically cleaning my apartment for guests π.
So, what's next?
Chord Progressions: Staccato is next!
The newest Staccato story, Episode 7: Cut has been written and reviewed. It's about 7,000 words, making it longer than every Staccato story except for Combust (the newest one).
I do need to get a few art assets for it, though. I'm planning on commissioning a new character scene as well as some new sprite assets.
This next one is gonna be about our favorite capyboy, Cliff! It's been so long since I've last written for him since he's been totally absent from the past two mainline episodes and two Staccato episodes π.
I imagine a lot of you were expecting a continuation of the Darrell x Trent romance. Believe me, I want to know what happens, too! But I felt really inspired to write more about Cliff. Those 7k words practically wrote themselves.
The goal will be to release this before July. We'll see how it goes.
Staccato is going public!
I'm planning on releasing Episode 1: Spark, and Episode 3: August for free download sometime this summer. Likely the same time that Staccato, Episode 7: Cut is coming out.
Chemistry and Smolder will be sold individually on itch for $2.00 each.
I'm planning on keeping Combust and Cut Patreon exclusive for the time being. I may sell these on itch in the future, but I'd ask for more than $2.00 since they're longer and have more art.
Getting access to Chord Progressions: Staccato on Patreon will ALWAYS be the best deal. There will never be a way that somebody could (legitimately) purchase all the Staccato stories at a better price than a Dorian Tier subscription. You guys will always get the best deals.
If you have any ideas or feedback about Staccato going public. Let me know! Nothing's set in stone.
Why is Staccato going public?
For context, Spark was released in December of 2022. August was released November of 2023. These stories have been behind a paywall for a very long time. I'd like to give the Chordies who can't afford a Patreon subscription a chance to see more stories of their favorite characters.
I'm hoping this will work as a great way to advertise Staccato. For the folks who aren't interested or are unfamiliar with our side stories, this could be a great way for them to see what it's all about, and hopefully be impressed enough to buy a Patreon subscription.
By offering Chemistry and Smolder on itch for $2.00, I'm hoping I can tap into a new revenue stream. Money's been tight since tax season...
Mainline Series Episode 8.
Enough about Staccato. I'm still working on the mainline episode as well! Already have some writing done.
We'll be revisiting Chester's route for Episode 8 and going back to Darrell again for Episode 9.
Release will be late summer 2025. If I want to keep my "3 builds a year" goal, I'll be aiming to release a review copy before August 2025.
If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, please let me know! Like I said before, nothing's set in stone.
Have a good memorial weekend, friends! πΈπ
