Donation Transparency / Apex Sponsorship
Added 2021-06-23 20:57:47 +0000 UTCHey guys, we've got some exciting news. We've been offered a sponsorship by Apex Hosting, a Minecraft server provider. In exchange for an affiliate banner/link on the download page and promotion of them in the Discord, we're being provided with a free 12 GB development server as well as a 20% commission on all server sales made through our affiliate link. This would mean that we are no longer paying expenses for our development server, and will be bringing in a bit more cash to the dev team.
For full disclosure, this is where your donation money is currently going and what we plan to do with it for the future.
At the time of this post, the Patreon is currently bringing in $98/month.
We are currently paying $22.50/month via Pebblehost for our development server.
The leftover $75.50/month is being put into a PayPal account and remains untouched, building up into a nice reserve fund.
We plan on using some of this reserve fund to pay Chris for his work on the OST once 2.2 is released.
In the very near future, we plan on registering the drehmal.net (or an equivalent) domain, as well as building a website using Wix. I'm unsure what the total cost of that will end up being.
We also want to use some of the donation money to funnel back into the community, like when Events start back up we can use it to fund prizes.
There's also the possibility of having Primordial t-shirts custom printed and sent out to you guys as well!
I'll try and make these fund transparency posts whenever big changes like this come, and we're always open to discussion with you guys about where your money goes and what we should do with it. We'll also address any concerns you guys might have with the Apex sponsorship in the Discord chat.
