Using a 50 Year Old Computer - Data General microNOVA is Done

Hello!

This is it, the Data General microNOVA finally! We've gone through all the hardware needed to make it work over the last four months and it's all ready. So in this one I am able to put the microNOVA back in the rack, get it all dressed up and pretty, and walk you through what it's like to set up and use the machine!

This is going to be it for Data General videos on the main channel for a while now. I definitely need a break to unload after all of the massive effort it's taken to get to this point and I think there is some viewer fatigue in seeing this topic over and over. It's time to turn my attention to something that will be more eye catching and have broader appeal...hmmm... maybe calculators from the 1960s?

Really though, it is amazing to be at this point after so long. These computers have been taunting me in the background for half a decade. Finally getting one of them to do something is wild and even I wasn't sure it was ever really going to happen. I genuinely have no schedule for when I'm going to get to the HDD in the microNOVA, the whole Nova 4/X, or even what order it will be. I need some time to recover, think, and plan before I will make any commitments on that. Although...there will be one or two more second channel Data General related videos that I'll be releasing that I've already filmed or are things I'm still working on. So it's not completely over just yet.

Speaking of recovering though, I was thinking I would take a little break after getting the microNOVA done, but I've got some personal life stuff coming up that would interrupt that right now so there will be one more main channel video after this but then I think I might skip one to mentally decompress after the nearly four straight months of Data General work. I'm planning on maintaining the same video release schedule by releasing second channel videos still, so it will be three second channel videos in a row rather than my current schedule of alternating main and second channel videos. I can more easily get those recorded in advance to actually take the time to recover as well.
