GPIB On Linux

Hello!
First, this video is going to be re-rendered tomorrow, my server decided to add a line in the lower middle of this for no reason. The audio is also not great for a chunk of it because my mic lost connection when I wandered outside after we got hour first rain in over 160 days. I didn't notice it for a while , sorry.

The last couple weeks have been very busy for me and I almost delayed the next video by a week. But this project got close enough that I decided to push it over the edge to have something this week.

This video is about how I use GP-IB test gear on linux with Python, and how in the future I'll be able to have readings displayed on video. It's a bit of a messy process but the end results are really good.

I'm curious why you didn't use the official and free Linux drivers from National Instruments. https://www.ni.com/en/support/downloads/drivers/download.ni-488-2.html#559272. The driver is called NI-488.2 after the IEEE standard for GPIB. Anyway, it's always cool to see you using GPIB and programming test and measurement equipment. I started out working on many of those GPIB devices from National Instruments.

Yeah, I buy a lot of retro machines and have met several around. I'm actually in San Tan Valley but I've met several around here too. Thanks for your videos. Good stuff.
