Thermal Camera for Hardware Debugging

Hello!

This is a video concept I've been keeping in my back pocket in hopes of making it to cover a break at some point, but instead I'm using it to cover for a bigger project on redoing my network hardware. Oh well.

I recently picked up a thermal camera after I had some floppy drives blow up in my face...literally. I wanted a method of finding problematic parts and that's where a thermal camera excels. I've been playing around with it since I picked it up and it's already revealed a number of helpful things to me. And I even accidentally discovered something I need to repair!

Ah, nice - my brother uses a cheap thermal camera addon for his phone to check thermals on stuff at work (he works doing maintenance/installation in a factory that builds industrial cranes) and he rates it as a helpful troubleshooting tool. Also helps in justifying the cost of replacement parts to management when you can show them pictures of things getting hotter than they should. Been meaning to do something similar myself for car stuff for, for example, checking coolant flow, wheel bearing temps, etc. Even the cheapy 160x120 or so resolution ones can give decent results.
