Supporter Update: March 2024

Hello!

I wanted to do a supporter update while working on some things (literally in this case) and give you some info on what's coming up soon. For the first time in a while I actually have a clear plan ahead for the next several videos which hasn't happened in so long it feels really weird hah!

Right now I don't have anything on the roadmap for the Series 200 and I don't have a 300. Pretty much everything I can do with it at this point is going to require me to write my own software to use it. Not the worst thing, it's great for it, but it's a lot of time to invest for videos. Eventually I do want to port my capacitor reforming software over to it, but that's been low priority for now. It's still set up though for when I get the itch.

I keep hoping for more HP Series 200 content, and maybe branching into Series 300?

Most rechargable AA form factor batteries run at a lower voltage than normal AAs. These things are apparently extra sensitive to the voltage dropping so it would reduce my usable time. With the Rodes I've had to deal with diminished battery capacity and would have to change out the mic after only two hours. I really don't want to get anywhere near that again. Going with USB power eliminators lets me use any battery bank I want that will last *way* longer than rechargable AAs. I might even end up with some I can clip on my belt right next to it and it will be almost as convenient. I am usually very happy to trade some convenience in a solution to making it more robust. I absolutely understand this solution sounds awful to some people, but this is totally my jam lol. (Also, for the receiver it just makes sense since my camera is always wall powered and I can tap into that)

I'm intrigued by your objection to using AA batteries, is there a problem with using decent rechargeables with it? It feels like, for this form factor, the alternative would likely be some annoying proprietary battery
