Roland MT-200 Pt2: Ultimate Desktop MIDI

Hello!

This video was recorded nearly three years ago, but I had family stuff to take care of last week and my plans for a simple video this week...weren't as simple as I had hoped. So I decided to try and finish an old video project and after two days of editing...I've decided to just delete it because that subject deserves better. So I looked back into my archives and I still had this project instead which I've been keeping around for the perfect time where I could edit but not film. This was one of a few videos I had filmed to cover the time when I was initially moving into the office and I ended up not needing this one. It never felt "right" because there are a few issues here and there, and I could focus on different things. But it's not a "bad" demo so I'm going to give it a shot here.

So this is about a Roland MT-200 which in reality is a combination of an SC-55 and SB-55 but packaged as a tutor and recording solution. Technically this video is a followup to this one ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc0SGBOq0tw ) and has been complicated to make, because I could show it recording directly to MIDI tracks which works well. And I had planned at one point to tie it into the Visual MT software I now covered separately. But in reality, no one is going to look at this thing for it's original uses now. It's a Sound Canvas with a floppy drive built in, you want to hear it jam! And for that, it's almost perfect, in more ways than you might initially think. So I think this simple look is probably going to answer any questions people will really have about this device.

You could probably add floppy support to any MIDI synthesizer using a Raspberry Pi, a USB floppy drive, and USB-to-MIDI cable. For the UI, you could add a 2 or 4 line alphanumeric LCD module and some buttons. And then write some simple software to do the playback and run the UI. It would be one way to address all the shortcomings of existing devices.

Now I need to do an A-B comparison with my MT120 I think your MT200 sounded pretty sweet.
