2025-07-14 18:51:12 +0000 UTCAnyways, back to what's important...this episode. This episode is one of my favorite episodes of any television series ever. And of course, its the most Lynchian episode of the series lol, why wouldn't it be the favorite. Using a dream state to hit closer home to reality than any straightforward presentation of reality ever could. You will still think about this episode years from now, and that's its power. Im typing this after i actually watched the episode, and after i replied to the other poster. Your reaction was beautiful and on point. I loved it. When i first found you doing reaction videos to old Twin Peaks episodes I did feel, at the time, that the reactions felt forced and over the top. But then I kept watching and i realized that its just you. Ive been studying human behavior all my life and i realized, thats just you. Your reactions are genuine, and what seemed over the top is just you, expressing your thoughts and feelings in the moment. And whats better than a reaction video from someone with a genuine response. Nothing. I find most 90%+ of reaction people annoying and forced. I stayed through all the Twin Peaks reaction videos in Reel Foods because i realized this wasn't that. Anyways, love this episode. Loved your responses. Not wanting Kevin to go through with it. But the episode is beautiful in still exploring how knowing someone's life and connecting to them in a way you never could, could actually be the way to move on from your issues with them. Its fitting, the birds. The grandfather hopes to save it before he drinks the water and moves on, and then happily kills it dead after he drinks the water and moves on. And his daughter (in law) is burying birds in the ground to see if they survive after they shouldn't have. And then see her son watch over to see if Kevin comes out of the ground alive after they shouldn't have. Damon Lindelof who runs this show, also ran "Lost". So the idea how the afterlife connects to your trauma and ability to "move on" makes so much sense here. Kevin was actually doing a favor to both Neil and Patti. They make a point to show Neil only drinking Jack Daniels, not water. And being fully aware of the purgatory hes in. They make a point to show Patti decline drinking the water saying they never drink the stuff. These are two souls who cant move on because of all the trauma and guilt they amassed as humans. Kevin actually facilitated their passing as he was trying to come to terms with his trauma/issues in the afterlife. So many more things to say about this episode that i hope to later. Its so great.
