Near End of May talk thing: whats been going on

Hello! You may have noticed there haven’t been a lot updates about the world recently, and there a few reasons for that, so I figured I may as well put out a proper announcement about it all.

The world is still very much in progress, but between fixing some things up on the Phonodroid model and May ending up being a lot more chaotic for me than I was expecting going into it I have unfortunately fallen quite a bit behind my original schedule.

Right now I am still working on textures, which there are a lot of hand drawn elements of for this, so that is inherently going to be pretty slow work as I try to pace it out.

Needless to say, I won’t be able to get the public model and world release out this month in the time that I have left, so I am instead changing my focus to what I can get done.

For people that havent been following the beta releases I’ve been doing, I have made quite a few tweaks and improvements to the Phonodroid model since the original 1.0 release from last month. It’s not quite ready yet, theres some tweaking of the rig for better full body tracking left to do and a few more additions I want to make, but it is already a big improvement. Its got better materials with a newer version of poiyomi shaders, more animation details, better lip syncing, and more!

I am also working on the first alternate part for patrons to use for customizing their models: Head B! (name subject to change) It has a smooth shape going from the top of the head to the front, rather than a snout like the default one. I also want to work on an alternative ear set and an alternate record mechanism if I can before the end of this month.

The main Phonodroid update will definitely be out before June. The alternate parts may be a little bit after because I want to release them together as a set. After that I’ll dive proper into the world again now that my plate will be cleared once more.

And when the world is done? I’ve got plans for a brand new avatar. But we’ll get to that in time.

For now, thank you all for the support! I’ve loved seeing what people have done with the Phonodroid avatar so far.
