SCSI2SD Video(s)?
Added 2021-02-20 23:09:31 +0000 UTCAlright, I could really use some feedback. I'm at a fork in the road on this SCSI2SD video I posted. I tried shortening it a lot but the way this video flowed isn't working well for that. I'm afraid it will be almost as much work to do that as it would be to make a whole new video again on the same thing.
Like I said in the other post, I don't think this video is "bad" it's just long and meanders a lot. I like the part about building the enclosure, I think it came out well and people might enjoy it as an idea. But there aren't any really solid videos that show how to use a SCSI2SD and especially how the virtual drives work and the excellent CD-ROM mode which now that I've tried it I think is way under represented. So I really want to do a video that extols the benefits of it and I don't think an hour long video is going to get the attention I feel this deserves.
So the way I see it I have three options:
- Release this long video (with tweaks for proper grading and audio, add an outro, and some new voice over to set the expectations and make it part of the "First Look" series) and make an all new concise followup that is more focused
- Cut out the DIY project part of creating the external SCSI2SD and restructure this video as that only. Then make a new followup video on how to use it.
- Bury the long video and just use bits and pieces as B-Roll for a new video entirely.
All three really sound good to me and I don't really have a preference, I may be too close to it. I would like to know what anyone here thinks is the best move. The middle of the road option of a DIY + New video on usage may be the best way to go but that throws away a lot of footage. So I would like to hear what everyone thinks.

Cool! I know they are meant more for Macs than anything so I am going to give it a shot with my Classic II to see how it works out in the followup. I'm really surprised by the lack of videos on it. I found almost no mention of the CD-ROM emulation at all which is now my favourite feature. So I think it would be really helpful to just go over it in detail to give you a good idea of what it can actually do and how to use it.

I'm right in the middle of re-capping and restoring several classic 68k Macs) I can understand your desire to cut it down a bit for "YouTube purposes", but honestly either option (releasing it as a "First Look" with chapter-ing, or cutting it into a short 2 or 3 episode miniseries) would work well. I've also noticed a lack of helpful SCSI2SD videos on YouTube so this will certainly help fill a need.
