Pocket Mechanical Calculator - Addiator Clone

I was sent this calculator in the last mail video and it is just one of the coolest simplest things I've come across. This is just a fun little look at putting it through its paces to see how you can use it.

UPDATE: I fixed the audio and the visual fade I wanted. This will be the final version now.

Slide rules are a complicated topic and I think that's why there probably isn't one good video out there already that explains them despite their popularity. They are not a general purpose calculator. They start at multiplication and go on to fractional division, squares, roots, and other more complex operations. They are also not a "precision" device because they don't print the values and you can end up counting marks on them and approximating in between them. I know the basics but, I don't know how to fully use one. It's really difficult to come up with a reason to do something like trigonometry on a day to day basis to get motivated to learn it farther as well. If I ever find myself in a position where I feel confident in explaining how to use one I will, but I have no idea when or if that will happen.

I love seeing these mechanical register-based calculators. I don’t know how many other people do, but I’ve always wondered how slide rules worked. That would be an interesting future topic. In the meantime, thanks for another great video 👍

Errata: - The intro music is way too loud - I need to fade out the title
