Blip - 1977 Mechanical Pong - UPDATE

This is a short video but it took a lot of work because it is the first one I've made with music, that I wrote myself for it! It's not  amazing music, but I think it fits the theme well.

I'm really curious about feedback on this one.

UPDATE - I re-rendered the video to fix some audio level issues. I tried to fix the black frame between the TV-Tennis ad and the Screen Tennis box but it's not a timeline/editing issue and for some reason Resolve just keeps putting a black frame there. Oh well. (The black frame during the pong sequence at the beginning is intentional to make starting the game more realistic)

I also decided to go with a more simple thumbnail this time and I really like the way it looks. I think I might try to used  less cluttered thumbnails like this in the future. And there is now a proper description and for the first time in a while, proper subtitles! I wrote the script for this as subtitles in Resolve. It was way easier to do than I thought so I'm going to try to do it for every video again.

Thanks! It was something that I just really wanted to see how it would turn out and based on all the feedback it seems like it was worth the effort.

Thanks! This video was kinda of an experiment to see how polished I could make a video right now given time, resources, and a good concept. I'm happy with the result but this isn't the new bar that all videos have to meet. For the longer videos this would take an unfeasible amount of time. My goal is to have two videos a week with a "micro" and "macro" on different days. The micro tangents aren't happening as often as I would like and they are lower priority. The longer videos are /much/ better to make from a Youtube algorithm point of view. So going all or mostly small videos probably isn't going to ever happen.

I’m joining the chorus of those praising this video. You clearly polished it from start to finish. The music was good, but the cross fade reveal of the Blip mechanism was incredible. I also liked the overlay showing the motion range. What a great job!

Well done! You nailed the intro, music, shot framing, special effects, pace/transitions, voicing and writing/content. Really rivals the quality from YouTube channels with a full production team. But careful not to over work yourself it looks like it was quite the effort on all fronts. Also, I must note it’s very different to your other videos in that it’s short and simple whereas you have a lot of very long, very technical videos on your channel. While I like both formats, I feel there is a larger audience that only has the time and interest for those short, highly edited videos, if you’re planning on doing a lot more of those ‘micro-tangent’ features it might be an idea to separate the more ‘maco-tangent’ videos either by a second channel or something else.
