Dot Matrix Printer Stuck Pin Fix

This was a video I needed to get done before I could more on to the one I actually wanted to do. It was really nice to make a short video from the start for a change. I may be doing another short fix video like this, maybe this could be a series? If I do, I should make it some kind of more generic "quick tips" type thing because the turbo display video could fit with this as well.

Sub 10m videos are supposedly not a great idea for some reason. But for simple repairs like this it's just a waste of time to drag it out. I may just release these as a second video instead of a "main" video.

Great video! - Side note, the Imagewriter I was my first printer (loved the magnet trick on the left side)... When my printhead had sat for awhile and was totally messed up I would leave the head in IPA for about an hour or two. The capillary action of the IPA going up the pins would clean most of the dried ink out. A shot of compressed air would clean up the rest and back in business. One note - most ribbons are ink AND lubrication thus it was made to go into the printhead to cool and lube the pins. The problem is when the printhead sits for a long time and everything dries out. IPA to the rescue.

I agree with Dylan, I think its good to have content of varying lengths of videos. Not everyone will watch the really long ones, but it is likely that everyone who watches the long ones will likely watch the short ones too. I would have liked to hear a bit of history/technical explanation about the mechanism and its origins, but that is probably quite a bit out of scope for this type of repair video. I hope you find a chance to come re-visit this tech and go a bit more in-depth.
