Compaq Portable Repair history & Foam and Foil Keyboard Repair

Edit: I forgot to add the text.

This video ended up being a bit more than I thought it would be. Primarily it was about repairing the keyboard on my Compaq Portable. But it turned out to have had quite a lot of work done to it so it was fun discovering all that. I'm really happy with the final results though! This computer is now fantastic to use!

That might be it, I'm not sure. I know the Compaq disks were different from the IBM ones. I think they had to include BASIC on there because it isn't in ROM like the 5150. There are also a couple of games on them. I only found out about those after I made the video. Now that I think about it, the games were different with some versions of DOS included. I should see if my manuals mention what games it game with and I might be able to find the correct matching DOS images. Ideally I'd like to get the original disks eventually, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

Is there a specific version of MS-DOS for the Compaq portable? Because I've found a few "Compaq OEM" versions of MS-DOS over at https://winworldpc.com/product/ms-dos/310 (or whatever DOS version you need, 3.30 or whatever). You can also check archive.org, they may have the disc you need.

My Dad has a Compaq Portable (or Portable 2, I forget) somewhere in the garage. I wonder if it works, and if I can find it.
