This was also shot with a "new" mic I bought a goodwill for $5. Shockingly, it wasn't an upgrade. But what it was, was a test because this was an XLR mic. I didn't previously have a vocal XLR mic so this let me try a new workflow that was a lot easier for me. The concept worked, but this mic was terrible. It's an AKG D8000M, so it's not meant for this kind of thing. I'm going to plan to get a good XLR mic for this (I'm thinking an AT2020) and then I can really simplify my audio workflow.
