Too many good games came out in 2004! I might have to say... Sims 2 though, this was a tough choice but I go back to that the most. Also I missed the last question! I'm a Supervisor at a Starbucks.

Also have a listener question, what is your favorite drink? I'm not a big drinker but I had a lavender lemon drop the other day that was really good!

I was born in 1997, and Megaman Legends came out that year. I grew up in a Playstation family, and when we had saved up enough money for a PS2 (which went to my dad), I got the PS1. Megaman Legends was the first game I got for it with my own money, probably in the bins at the Gamestop. I don't remember if I ever beat it, but I do remember it kick-starting my love of video games, especially other Capcom games.

Or, to be clear, a better coffee establishment. System Shock 2 is just that groundbreaking.

1999 I'm 4 months old. Irrational Games and Looking Glass Studios are cooking something up in the kitchen. They're about to change action, action and role-playing- and survival, and also horror. What's in the oven? You already know it's System Shock 2. 20/20, even on a Mac. You could play it in Starbucks.

I was born in the year the NES was released in the U.S., but I'm surprised how few of the NES launch games I've played. Just Super Mario Brothers and Duck Hunt. Both are, of course, great, but Super Mario Brothers had more replay value, so I'll pick it. (Though maybe I should try Excitebike or Ice Climber some time.) Question for Austin: What book is top of your "to read" list? If you read regularly, what's next in your queue that you haven't yet started? If not, what would you read if you were to start?

I have another question: How do you feel about Wet Dry World in Super Mario 64? The stage is infamous for having a "negative emotional aura". Mish Koz talks about it in his Mario 64 Iceberg video so that makes two different people who agree on this, and I personally also feel it very clearly without knowing what it is exactly. I'd love for you to weigh in on it in some way or another :)

I was born in 1990 and super excited to learn that The Secret of Monkey Island came out that year. It's my pick because it's the first of a series that had a huge impact on me growing up. I have a lot of special memories of playing games as a child, but I remember being especially enchanted by the feel of some point-and-clicks, mostly ones from Lucas Arts and Sierra Games. The third Monkey Island game was the one I played the most growing up, and the more I went back into the origin of point and clicks I’ve been nothing but entranced by the art and the music and the feel of them. I also get a huge kick out of how slow and stilted they can be. I did go back and play the original Monkey Island years ago, and it’s so special and fun I don’t know what else to say!! Influential and hilarious and beautiful.

I was lucky enough to be born in 1990. That's when super Mario world, the best game ever made, was released (in japan). In the u.s. we got contra, final fantasy 1, and God damned super Mario 3??? How the fuck was 1990 so stacked.

Horsethe

my question is what’s your favorite song rn
