A Little Bit About Cindy Lawson

Recently, a short conversation about the nature of Cindy’s gender came up on Discord, and I wanted to share my thoughts.

When I created this character, I thought of Cindy as a cute, effeminate boy with a proclivity for cross dressing. Questions have since been brought up, more than once, and in different ways, about how Cindy identifies, whether as male or female.

More interestingly, and more recently however, it was made clear to me that Cindy is a character that resonates with some of my readers in a unique and personal way. And learning that resonates with me in a very personal way.

I wasn’t sure how else to put this, or how to frame this subject. The best I could do, and what I had intended to do all along was to ask how Cindy feels about this.

This is the conversation we had.

Cindy is a character who’s gender identity was never particularly important to me. How I envisioned Cindy was as a cute, promiscuous boy who loved to cross dress and especially loved the looks he got from older men, ready to do anything to please them. The kind of fun, silly character I’m prone to writing.

When I learned that some of you are personally invested in Cindy’s gender identity, I felt touched - because I never set out to create characters that resonate with anybody. And when it happens, it’s overwhelming. When you tell me that Cindy’s gender matters to you, that matters to me. It was also pointed out to me, respectfully and in private, that I’ve exclusively depicted Cindy as presenting distinctly feminine, which is absolutely accurate, distinguishing this character from a traditional femboy, trap, or crossdresser.

All of this is why I’m happy to tell you, with Cindy’s permission of course, that moving forward, she identifies as a girl, both in the world of Good Girls, and also in proper descriptions about her. Nothing else about her is changing. She still has her cute teeny-weeny, and has an inclination for submission. That’s what she likes. That’s who she is. She’s also one of the most popular Good Girls, despite the fact that I don’t draw her that much, with some really devoted and loving fans.

What a great time to be able to share this with everyone, on the tail end of having completed multiple Cindy illustrations.
