Everyone’s Girlfriend Evelyn - Update 003, Evelyn’s Body

The meticulous process of animating Evelyn’s body has begun!

Drawing and preparing Evelyn’s body for animation consists of two major challenges.

The first challenge is creating Evelyn’s ideal body, which means I spend a lot of time scrutinizing and editing her proportions and features. After all, I’m going to be working with this iteration of my favourite Good Girl a whole lot, so it’s very important that I’m happy with it, and that this art accurately reflects Evelyn. I still have a small list of edits to address before I finally export this into Spine. The whole thing has been very involving!

The second challenge involves creating a decent number of assets that can be used and reused in multiple configurations to create an optimum number of poses and animations. For now, this mostly comprises of multiple sets of arms and hands, with legs and feet to follow. Additionally, I have to think in advance of applying meshes to these assets in Spine, and how they’ll look when animated. As such, some of these assets (for example, certain sets of Evelyn’s hands) are comprised of many more moving parts.

I keep saying on Discord that I’m almost ready to export this to Spine, but also I keep spotting elements that I’d like to edit or fix, so there’s been a lot of that. Obviously, I can’t keep this up forever, and eventually I will have to begin the process of exporting so I can create the complex meshes that will bring Evelyn’s body to life!

In the meantime however, I’m very pleased with how Evelyn’s turned out, and I hope you are too. I have a few more edits I’d like to apply, and I’ll do my best not to go overboard! After all, with this many items, creating Evelyn’s skeleton in spine and linking everything together, as well as her outfits, is going to be an absolute nightmare! But, it’ll be worth it.

Honestly, I’m so excited to see Evelyn’s full body animation, I can barely stand it!
