Orb: On the Movements of the Earth 1x23 "Comrades" - reaction & review
Added 2025-06-29 01:54:08 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to episode 23 of Orb!! OMG!!!!!!!!! How was I bawling for Nowak this whole time?!?!!? I've gotta say, for a villain, he really had SO much more going on that was sympathetic when it came down to it....even though it still feels wrong to feel that way, I can't deny it. And seeing Rafal again?!!?! Even if it was an illusion...and the fact that his subconscious was showing him that says so much! Not to mention, he knew at the end you guys....he knew :(((((((((((( And now we're on to a new protag!!! Can't wait for more! Enjoy! ~ MH

HAHAHAH spinning that orb like crazy!! XD Yeah that's the scene from the intro alright! Nowak was such an amazing antagonist! Oof, yeah, good call on what's better - dying with hope or no hope. Oh thanks for clarifying about the letter! I think the gloves were a little too big for her at the time right?! So maybe they fit right now :( OMG that quote totally applies! Bad people can do good things, and good people can do bad things I guess. Gotcha, I had no idea what the year was when we started! Interesting about Albert! Can't wait for the last two eps!

He really is a product of his time. OMG I know!!! It's hard to even think of him as Nanami now haha. But this VA killed it! Rafal <3333 Draka's ending was also really beautiful! I've heard some things about the new character but I'll keep them to myself in case they're spoilery!! Sad but good, couldn't agree more!

2025-07-02 21:09:49 +0000 UTCEven as “the bad guy” I couldn’t help but find Nowak charming and interesting throughout every stage of his life. I put quotes around because although I can’t talk what he’s done up but he was definitely a product of his time. I can’t fault what he’s done forever because he was following the path he believed was best for his daughter. And truly believed he was doing the lords work. That final scene with him broke me. Starting out I couldn’t believe this was the same guy who voiced Nanami. I couldn’t stand him that much and now I sort of miss him. He’s a great character. That may have been an illusion of Rafal but it feels like it came from a place of honestly within Nowak. I can’t believe they’re both gone. Draka’s end was also disheartening as beautiful as it was. This episode brought to the long journey we’ve had. I’m not sure how long it’s been if it was a massive time jump. I don’t know if the new character is someone totally new or if he’s an offspring of someone we’ve already met but he doesn’t seem familiar at all. I wonder how this is going to wrap up but I can feel how with a new face it might be tricky to end everything according in just a couple more episodes. Sad episode but it was a great episode.

2025-06-29 13:32:27 +0000 UTC“I’m just out here putting my own SPIN on this story” - given what we’re covering here you didn’t catch the irony in that sentence? :P Well, now you understand why Rafal is still in the intro smiling, and everything behind him is burning… Nowak’s probably going to go down as one of the more interesting antagonists to research, just in terms of everything that causes him to do what he does - the conversation he has in his head with Rafal is just kind of a manifestation of those different feelings. It would seem that he did think something was a bit off but he never really bothered to question it, and now, things have escalated to the point there’s no turning back. Everyone is just kind of “set” in their beliefs. Given the way everyone’s been facing their demise, especially during this episode, the question becomes: is it better to die with no hope in something better, or to have hope that there is something to look forward to. The juxtaposition between Nowak and Draka is simple: Nowak still had a notion to cling to for Jolenta, while Draka is just wondering, what have I been doing all this time? None of its worth anything now. I meant to say this last time but, the letter Draka was trying to send is Jolenta’s - she asked that a letter he sent when the book was published. I assumed it might be for Nowak, but that’s gonna be long distance as well. Also… I understand the dramatic effect of the scene but how do you explain Jolenta’s hands still fitting the same gloves 25 years later? “You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Nowak only just realized this, but too late to do anything about it. A lot of good intentions end up in bad places. One could argue that good intentions and bad results are a result of his actions, and Antoni’s are bad intentions that brought forth good results. No two people are alike, and none are as simple as good and bad. We all have both. If you recall, the first episode said “15th century, Kingdom of P.” It was not specific in its location, just the time frame. At the end of this episode, it specifies 1468, Poland, which as we know, is a real place. I won’t get into it yet, but I can tell you the character of Albert, unlike the others, is based on a real person. I won’t say any more than that. You’re going to have a lot to figure out next week, I’m still not sure I understand a good chunk of it. :P
