Since when?

Well, you'really here reading this, so odds are you follow my strange and often spherical work. My question to you, is how long you've been watching.

Let's learn about you all!

Just try not to make me feel too old.

B!

Comments

Damn, that has been a while!

Brian Christy Burke

Damn, that is more than I have!

Brian Christy Burke

I came across Supermegatopia in the mid to late 90s. Loved those comics. I still have the SMT Random Comic Theater stuff, though I can't make it work any more.

Nathan Weber

Heck, I'm still in one for Omaha the Cat Dancer. We just can't let it go, I guess.

Nathan Weber

I remember constantly diving through your Supermegatopia page, a second page that held some nudies and semi-porn work. I think I saw you on VCL? But Have followed for years and I have enjoyed you since. I miss Crushed, Weaselboy and even have a copy of the Supermegatopia RPG you published years back.

The Derped Prime

I was regularly following Supermegatopia back in late '98 or early '99, though I had seen some artwork earlier. I enjoyed Weasel Boy's misadventures, but for me it was all about Crushed, Red, and Knaw. Man I miss Knaw.

Jingizu

Supermegatopia. I cannot remember precisely when. The last page was an undead trying to rise an army of undead dinosaurs.

Marcus

I remember those too...

Brian Christy Burke

Since SMT, which I learned of through Yahoo groups. God, I'm old enough to remember Yahoo groups, that makes me wonder if anyone else actually remembers them...

onipuck

You kids and your Pokemon on your phone. You've got it easy! Back in my day you needed a Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, or DS!

Brian Christy Burke

Well you don't have to whimper. You can shout at passing whipper snappers to stay off your pokestop, yell at clouds, and talk about back in the day when you had to press a number up to four times to get a letter you wanted in a text. And so help you if you pressed the key too many times.

Kyle

Very...

Brian Christy Burke

Fantastic.

Brian Christy Burke

Still a ways back!

Brian Christy Burke

So old... I'm just going to sit and my rocking chair and whimper...

Brian Christy Burke

She is as popular as she is... bountiful!

Brian Christy Burke

Hmm, probably only from FA, unless it was under a different name. The oldest pic of yours I have is 30-30 circa 2007.

Nipper

I wanna say at first back in the SMT days, then on and off until '07 or thereabouts when I found your FA page, and I've been consistently following since then.

Chris Shaffer

I'm going to guess it was as early as '98 or as late as '00 because I remember keeping track of your stuff alongside playing Half-Life and Team Fortress Classic. I was 13 and no "18 or older only!" warning could stop me. Does that help you feel old? :)

Kyle

Remember back on alt.fan.furry, when there was a call for artists to submit work for a comic Edd Vick's MU Pubs was doing? That was me, and you were doing this stuff as "The Brothers Grin". Feel old, yet?

Mark Ashworth

Since I found SMT. I would guess around 2001 or so.

Flatrabbit

Years. I guess I first found SMT through links, then found your non-SMT art elsewhere. No idea when.

Webster Leone

Around fall 2000; i remember because my college roomate wondered what the hell I was doing when I first 'discovered' that issue of Buxom gal where the science lady got really, really hyuge. I still miss the shit out of your archived work, and Buxom Gal in general.

TetsuKnife

Sweet!

Brian Christy Burke

Around 1999 I think, Crushed era SMT. I actually have a wget copy of SMT from May 2000 ish.

David Cooke

I can't even recall- I know it was back when the original SMT site was still intact, but other than that I dunno.

Sum Gai

The WoW stuff does have a home at brianchristyburke.com

Brian Christy Burke

Hrm, I know I was watching some of the Crushed stuff and SMT... I can't put an exact date. Certainly before drawing posting/building a website for the WOW material?

Griffinwolf

Oh yeah! That fucker!

Brian Christy Burke

No no, I'm the one who buys up all your art. You're probably thinking of Dutch.

Threyon

Sadly, I don't even have all my stuff. Thanks to various computer crashes and whatnot I've only got my post SMT stuff. My brother might have more, but he's been slow to rebuild SMT.

Brian Christy Burke

Since probably around the first time Avatar flashed her tits in SMT (issue 3 or so?), on through the SMT and SMT Blue mucks, your submissions to KODT, countless posted and subsequently deleted posts on various personal and art sites across the net, and now here. Incidentally, any chance you might ever release just, like, ALL of your art? Even the weird and deviant stuff you're slightly ashamed of but really excited to draw at 4 in the morning when you think no one is watching?

Magnus Irongut

I would say I found your work on the old Supermegatopia website back in 2002 ish?

nikaro

Nine years ago is hardly late to the party! And Drake Fenwick was a pen name. I actually am Brian.

Brian Christy Burke

I seems to have joined the party pretty late! I saw your distinctive style featured in the WoW fanart blog (maybe 2007?) and became instantly smitten with caricature proportioning and detailed diagonal hatching. I half-heartedly google-stalked "Bludlemon", which led me to "Drake Fenwick", which led me to "Brian Burke", and to this day I have no idea what your damn name is. I hope I didn't just blow your cover.

Chris VerBurg

It's amazing to see the longevity of my fanbase!

Brian Christy Burke

And here we are years layer: bitter bitter enemies plot each other's painful demise!

Brian Christy Burke

I remember how I first contacted you directly. You signed one of your WoW themed pics with the character's name and realm, so I created one on that same realm and mailed you, asking if we could be friends. ^^

Threyon

That's kinda interesting.

Brian Christy Burke

Oh wow, um... hard to remember. Around '96 or '97.. ish? Something like that. The old Supermegatopia stuff. Pretty certain it was before Crushed: The Doomed Kitty Adventures.

BatwingCandlewaxxe

after a bit of reading, GeoCities was shut down and ReoCities is a project to create an archive of all the stuff on GeoCities for historical posterity

Sleepy Dave

Coolness!

Brian Christy Burke

I'm often unaware of many things!

Brian Christy Burke

I think I might have found Supermegatopia after it stopped updating? After that is a little fuzzy, but I know I started following your art on FA at some point.

infernalperson

Kinda surprised that you weren't aware that it still exists

Sleepy Dave

How the hell does that still exist?

Brian Christy Burke

Oh you turned out just fine!

Brian Christy Burke

Damn, we are all getting old!

Brian Christy Burke

Good times back then!

Brian Christy Burke

Can't really remember, but I think it may have been around '99. Definitely before the SMT Deviations comic which was '00 through '01. So yeah, yet another of the 'old' fans.

Graeme Thorburn

I totally need to do more of it. The only thing I lack is time

Brian Christy Burke

That was certainly one of my best stories!

Brian Christy Burke

Quite a while. Probably started in 98 or 99. Before the I.O.U started, for certain.

minigendo

Supermegatopia first brought me to your art as well - The Warcraft Art from back then also was something I kept bumping into (and loving quite a lot)

Maniko, conduit of hugely adorable, massively destructive beans

WHEN DINOSAURS ROAMED THE EARTH!! XD Had to have been… late 90s or early 2000s.

Threyon

Known of you since way back with the old Supermegatopia site.

Chakat Thriceborn

KIWIS! 'Nuff said.

Major Matt Mason

She was the grand-daughter of Gharzia Gnarltooth from 'The Drinking Game' story. I also vaguely recall that she was Gharzia the 1st's son's daughter and the overdose from the story effected both him and his daughter as well; making for an extremely awkward childhood for Gharzia's son, what with him sporting a rack that most women would bludgeon someone to death with a limp noodle for. http://www.reocities.com/Area51/dungeon/9979/fant.htm

Sleepy Dave

Probably real early 2000s, Supermegatopia was one of the first things I found after starting to use the internet! Look at what you've done to me!

Stush Cinta

Do you remember when Gharzia came from before that? I wonder if I still have those old stories.

Brian Christy Burke

Some time just before the turn of the century, i wanna say around 98 or 99. I know it was before you started the never finished Meshworld comic. (Still kinda curious as to what happened to FighterNinja, Gharzia, and the rest.)

Sleepy Dave

Eh probably 98 or so then... wait 18 friken years ago? Gah now I'm feeling old .

Andrew Riggs

Well I started drawing it in 95, but I don't think we had a site until a year or two in.

Brian Christy Burke

I don't remember. A little after supermegatopia started whenever that was.
