Haikyu!! 2x13 "Simple And Pure Strength" - reaction & review

Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 13 of Haikyu!! Whoa you guys, I really thought our crew might be in trouble here! That tall guy is really good, but here's the thing...it takes more than just one attribute to be a good player! Especially when you're dealing with a team that's REALLY got their act together and can pivot any way they need to! And I think their whole team learned that today. Can't wait to see the next match! Oh yeah and protect Kiyoko!!! Good stuff! Enjoy! ~ MH

Thanks for the VA info! Oooohh interesting about the hint for next time! I can definitely see how that's a theme this week. We really are seeing the results of all Karasuno has done recently, now that they're smoothing things out like you said. Thanks for clarifying all that! Hahah oh it would've been ON if those two had seen what was going on! Yeah we're just gonna keep upping the difficulty from here!

Ohhh ok! Thanks for clarifying! There are so many lessons for sure!

These last two games Karasuno had to win to be in the qualifiers. That’s what I read in a comment. I couldn’t quite understand that myself. The dude trying to get Kiyoko’s number at the end said they didn’t have to do that since they made it to the semi finals last time. I enjoy this series because there are lessons to be learned and take away from. 🏐

I looked in the VA list on MAL - I didn’t see anything too obvious from Hyakuzawa (the 2-meter guy), but Komaki (his teammate with the glasses) was Carrion in Slime. There’s not a whole lot to go over here, but I am gonna say there’s something next week that’s gonna “date” this particular reaction. :) I do think that the main focus here is that you can’t win on innate physical ability and strength alone - much the same way getting Kiyoko’s attention involves more than just going up to her out of the blue and asking for her number. If you remember what Takeda said about cogs, Karasuno has all its gears turning, meanwhile the other team knows they have one card to play, and they’re all in. It’s their best chance to win at this time. Both teams know it’s not a sustainable strategy to rely on one player overall, but you have to do what works best for you NOW. And then work out the kinks later. In this case, Karasuno spent a lot more time working out the kinks and they’re noticing subtle changes in their play from it. As far as an explanation of what the players were talking about at the end, the last tournament that Karasuno lost, the team that they were talking about finished in the top 4 (semifinals), so they’re seeded - they get to avoid several rounds of elimination before they begin playing - a “safety net” as a reward, if you will. It’s like having an off day while your opponent is playing two matches and then having to come back and play you when rested. Hinata’s grown a bit of a backbone, and it’s nice he had the stones to step in and help Kiyoko out but uh… I’m a little sorry Tanaka and Nishinoya weren’t there just so I could get popcorn. But as you might predict, every round brings an opponent even harder than the last one….
