Dr. Stone 2x02 "Hot Line" - reaction & review
Added 2025-03-07 13:44:31 +0000 UTCHey everyone!! Here it is - my reaction to the episode 2 of STONE WARS!!!! Oh dang, I love this game of cat and mouse we just played!! Only Homura ended up being the mouse thanks to the pincer attack!! I love that we're using so many past inventions to make new ones, like the flare and blacklight! I also love how low key dedicated Senku is to non-violence!!! And last but not least, OUR FRIENDS ARE BACK!!!!!!! Can't wait for more! Enjoy! ~ MH

YAY!! Hope you're enjoying it! I saw that it's only 11 eps! I hear you, it's tough to compete with some of the other openings/endings for sure! Homura really is skilled! Kohaku was so cool here and so was Senku with the flare! Also good call on the OST!! That's so true, the concept of how/when/if we should kill was really prominent here. And it was balanced with great comedy like you said!! Hee hee, of course I'd notice my Giorno!!! ^_^ (Well, our Giorno lol!) OMG I totally agree on the tears, what a moment when they connected over the phone!!!!!!

2025-03-23 21:08:00 +0000 UTCHi Melissa, I finally found the time to catch up on your Dr. Stone Reaction and I'm so happy that you're enjoying season 2 of Dr. Stone so far. Season 2 is really a good transition to what's to come in seasons 3 and 4. It's very short compared to the other seasons but has a really really good arc and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it. I'll start by giving a few thoughts on the new opening/ending. I have to say that the season 2 opening is the weakest of all the openings Dr. Stone has to offer. In my opinion. The visuals are totally beautiful, but I just don't like the song. And the same goes for ED. The visuals are okay, but the song isn't catchy and that makes it worse than the other openings and endings, which doesn't mean it's completely bad. It's just that the OP and ID didn't keep up with the others from the other seasons. High intensity episode getting the cell phone over to Taiju and Yuzuriha. Homura is an amazing scout, she truly gave the squad a run for their money. Not even the badass Kohaku could catch her. Senku was smart to use the flair as distraction then put that powder on her to make a trail but even that wasn't enough. The music this episode fit the theme of pursuit very well. Loved the insert tracks and overall soundtrack during the tense moments. Killing another person was a big theme this episode that I thought was handled well. Kohaku asking if she could kill Homura and how when if she could there'd be hesitation. Magma nearly killing the stone statues who haven't even been waking up yet. Gen speech about how people normally aren't able to just kill one another and that's why Tsukasa is so dangerous because he can kill so easily without remorse. I loved how the message was handled. But the episode also had some comedy parts that I really enjoyed. The trio of Gen, Chrome and Magma somehow fit together really well. They make for a really good comedy vibe. You've also now caught a first glimpse of one of my favorite characters and your guess as to who the voice actor might be is of course correct. As a big Jojo fan, who would have expected it any other way, you'll notice Giorno's voice actor straight away. Almost made me tear up like Senku when Taiju and Yuzuriha called with the cell phone. Great way to end it and begin the operation into taking down Tsukasa.

2025-03-10 11:48:24 +0000 UTCOmg the way they did this whole opera was so cute but also kind of tense. But the did it and AAAAHHHHH! I’m literally crying! Even Senku was being all teary eyed. I missed his loud voice too!!! Way too long! Way way too long Taiju! 🥹 😭

2025-03-10 11:41:57 +0000 UTCHahah yes, it's unmistakable!! Also, no, sorry, that was a very confusion statement - my actual son is not in fact named Giorno :P I meant he's one of my anime sons. But I can see how that would be confusing lol! Homura is pretty impressive! Yeah Senku likes to keep these things under wraps! That's the thing, he's still Magma! 32 people is a lot when you consider they're on par with the people we've seen so far. Hahahah YES so true about the irony of the voices :P

2025-03-09 21:42:38 +0000 UTCSo, do you remember when I said last week there was a voice you were ten billion percent going to recognize if you were paying attention? Yup. You actually got that one right. Giorno/Canute/Yuri/Floch. Good job! 👍 Also Homura’s voice is probably most known to you from the information I have by Yunyun from Konosuba. You have to be fairly impressed by Homura’s skill set as she’s on pretty even terms with Kohaku, who can pretty much do whatever it is she wants in this world. Neither of them were able to get away from the other, but neither was able to gain any ground either. So Senku might have a slight weakness in the fact that he only really tells some people what he’s doing after the fact: using the flare was a good way to stop Homura but Kohaku didn’t know what was happening either and got temporarily disabled by the flare as well. As good as he is in prepping the people who know what he’s talking about, you might want to inform your other pieces. Speaking of pieces, Magma might be on our side now but he’s still him. He’s just pointed away from the danger zone. It does say something that as shifty as Gen is he still was the one to get in Magma’s way. Still, if Tsukasa is already up to 32 people time is if the essence. The grave thing was the other side of Senku thinking ten billion steps ahead because who would suspect anything was going on there? Well, until just a few minutes ago. Also: Based on what I confirmed for you at the start of this comment, think about the irony when you remember who’s voicing Tsukasa. ;) Also, did you REALLY name your son Giorno? I’m just asking to make sure you’re not memeing again. :P
