Imagine a spoiled socialite that's no stranger to having their antics splashed across headlines without a single care for their actions.
Then one day while speeding along in their fancy spots car they slam into a catgirl and she dies coughing out her own blood in the street before them.
At that point reality comes crashing down hard upon them and they're forever scared by their own actions. That scar haunts them and makes them become introspective and gives them the direction and drive they were lacking before in life.
They turn their money and power into something not for frivolity and self interest, but in the interest in helping others because that's the only way they can handle the guilt that's forever tormenting them.
But without that incident, that change never comes, and their own actions later on destroy them.
